Sorting files on the HDD

I have lots of SNG, PCG and WAV files on my disk, I know I should have been more diligent with creating folders for my stuff, but nontheless, I have hundreds of files on the root of the disk.

I can't quite figure out what the default sort method is when I go to load or delete a file..., it's not date and it's not alphabetically, what else is there?

Anyway, I'd like to sort the list of files alphabetically by name, but I don't see any way to do that nor can I find it in the manual, does anyone know if this is possible?

As far as I`m concerned Triton adds files in time order unfortunately and there is no way to change this. I created folders with types or names of authors and moved files there - not to have thousands of them "naked"
When using external device: computer or cd drive - it`s possible to configure files alphabetically and copy them to (erased) hd.
I have asked Korg at the very beginning of Studio to have more options but they left it as it is...

I don't need 'lots of options', just sorting by either date or alpha would be fine.

I guess that means that whatever order they get placed is just how it is and there's nothing I can do about it?

Yes - nothing to do about it, unless using pc or so...

Long time ago, there was "ds" (dirsort) in Norton Utilities for DOS. It rearranges the directory so that the files are sorted by name, date, or extension.

Maybe there is some similar tool in MS-DOS clones (FreeDOS, OpenDOS). I'll take a look and give you some feed-back (my wife need that kind of utilities for her MP3 reader)

I've found the same thing with directories as well as files. Tried renaming them, tried recreating them to change the order based on both name or creation date, and there's no obvious logic to the sequence of listing. Sometimes you can "fool" the Triton into putting the item where you want it, sometimes you can't. Some criteria must exist (after all, it's a digital computer), but it's neither documented nor readily discoverable.

It depends on how the FAT table is written. The files are listed as the filenames are written in it.
