Just got a microKORG & I love the sound capabilities. I want to use it for the most part as a sound module using my Roland Fantom X8 as a controller. I cannot seem to be able to get the microKORG to recognize a command from my Roland to shift the octave up or down. Can anyone tell me if the MK recognizes this MIDI message? I have everything enabled on the MIDI filter except program change. In Global I have Position set as "Pre".
Thanks
Does MK receive MIDI message to shift octave up or down?

Why do you think you need the transpose function?
If you send the MK a C4 midi note it's going to play a C4 note. You can send it any note, not just the range that's mapped to the keys. In other words, the transpose sets the range for its built in keyboard, and when you send it a midi note then the transpose function is irrelevant.
That said, you can control the transpose via midi, but you're going to need to learn a lot more about midi to understand how to do that. All the data you need is available in the MicroKorg Midi Implementation documentation, but it isn't going to teach you how to use this info to do what you want. That's why I'm telling you that you don't need to use transpose, because you could go through a lot of effort trying to change it and then discover that the whole goal was pointless.

Xmlguy,
Thanks for your response. Let me try and explain in more detail at what I am trying to accomplish. As an example, I want to set up a 3 way split on my controller keyboard (Roland Fantom X) mapping a patch on the micrKorg for one of the split areas. Everything is cool except I need the MK to be one octave higher while leaving it mapped in the same area on my controller (bottom 2 octaves). I hope this makes some kind of sense...and yes I agree that I need to learn more about MIDI.
Thanks in advance

within your microKORG, go to Pitch, then use knob 1 to Transpose the patch up 1 octave (12). so for example, when you press C2 on your Fantom, your mK will respond with C3. do this to each patch you need to respond this way (don't forget to save them after transposing), and you should be good to go, without having to meddle with MIDI messages. you can move any or all patches up or down two octaves (24 semitones in either direction).BrianB wrote:As an example, I want to set up a 3 way split on my controller keyboard (Roland Fantom X) mapping a patch on the micrKorg for one of the split areas.
