What about function key? a new OS? ...

Post by SirRoyRogers »

I'm waiting for something new for the OASYS.
I have the 1.3.1 version, Al-1, EXs3,... but from 2008, january there isn't something new.

Ant the function key? More banks to save sounds?

If you press the function key once daily you will notice a progressive increase in your cognitive skills and generally have a happier life. Best button on the OASYS.

Nobodys answered because we have been through this oh around 80,900 times  . If you search the board just a few down you'll be able to read all the chit chat about the Oasys not getting updated.
Look for the thread called Namm 09 and The Oasys.

The only news we have is that Korg are working on something (which is good news!), but we don't have an idea what that is or when it will be delivered. Korg will not announce anything until it is nearly ready to release. That's all we know at the moment.

Aaah c'mon

Don't take it personal... :P

It's just that as far as the Oasys is concerned, there has been A LOT of posts concerning the "open architecture" part. Many users feel that Korg has not done enough, mainly because that the M3 seems to be receiving a lot of attention with its recent expansion. Usually all "discusisons" end by someone stating that the Oasys kicks ass as it is, and that even though everyone would welcome any future improvements and/or annoncements of future improvements, we can't expect Korg to keep a product like the Oasys on the forefront of every R&D project.

Its been 4 years since it first came out, and its very surprising that a software-based keyboard can still keep up with the competition, considering the very steep progress curve in technology efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Basically, people are pissed to hear about stuff like "omg, where's my exF ? they said there was going to be some exFs... omg, I have so many presets to choose from that I don't have any more user slots for saving my patches... omg Jordan is using a Roland... omg I shoud've bought a Kurzweil... omg I paid so much for this, Korg should send me a thank you letter signed by Dan & Jerry... omg, I'm so loyal to Korg for having bought their product that Dan & Jerry should invite for dinner at the Korg HQ - where I could bathe in the awesomeness of all the vintage Korg stuff while showing off my l337 skillz as a keyboard player..."

Like someone said in a previous post, don't use for what it could be... use for what it is at the present moment. It does kick ass.

Enough said, my 2 cents

LOL!!! :D this made me laugh so hard! :P cause like that is so dang accurate! :D

@Rogers well mate, actually I did, I told you exactly where you could find all our chat about whats not been happening to the Oasys. I thought that would be more useful than just saying "no, nothings happened"
If you would have read it it would have told you what Dan said ...etc.
No reason to get all glumy! :D lol

THAT MYSTERIOUS FUNCTION BUTTON

Post by ronniecruisin »

Anybody notice that when recording on the O there is no way to switch your monitors off via the O to go to headphone mode other than in my case leaning over and switching them off at the back of each monitor.? A speaker on off switch can be bought of course $200 AUS. or you can use a mixer. But thats not what the O is all about Hey? Plug everything in the back and go!!!! That Function Button ( for me anyway ) would be a good solution....Press it and control your monitors on or off... Also does anyone know if it is possible to hook up a mutli switch pedal to the O to make use of more functions as listed in the machine ie. switch karma on/off etc.

Hey ronnie, dude.

That button can be a great solution ... for a lot of different things in the OASYS :D

Some features that could be added (if you ask SirRoyRogers and other fellows would say "more user banks to store sounds"), some features missing (If you ask Daz and me, for example, would say "edit sounds in Sequencer mode"), etc, etc.

And for some others its just as a excuse say something err, lets say , funny? (See Vortex post above, and some other post in other forums regarding "the Function button in the OASYS that has no function at all") and so on, and on, and on.
You get my drift, dont you?

The fact is, If I recall correctly, that someone at korg (Jerry I remember) said once they have this button on reserve if they eventually need it someday.

I wonder if we will ever see this now almost mythological Fuction button in action . :)

Yep,

Here's a link to how to setup and use a FCB1010 pedal for Karma fucntions

http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?doc ... 5&hl=en-GB

If the link fails, search FCB1010 at Karma Labs Oasys Forum, the tutorial was done by 'Pureheart video'

It works really wel. :D
