Empty banks?

Post by yamaha135 »

I know these are probably stupid questions that I'm asking, but I won't get the TEX for a week or so as its being crated and shipped later this week.

My question is, are the extremes different from the classics in that you have extra "empty" banks that you can store your programs/combi's in? To this day, I still DREAD overwriting any factory sounds with my own prog/combi, or worse, having to load PCG files all the time from floppies.

Also, I keep seeing that "expansions" are already installed. Do the TEX's come with the EXB's already installed or just loaded into the ROM?

Thanks!!!!!!!

You have LOTS of extra banks.

It's all on the ROM.

Regards.
Sharp.

You're awesome sharp.... thanks!

It's weird starting this stuff all over again. I have had my TC setup the way I wanted for so long that I haven't needed to change anything and now with the TEX on the way, its like a whole new world.

Sharp beat me to it, I was busy sampling some stuff with the extreme. I used to think the slots on the top left were like my Karma and needed to fill them but realized all the exb stuff is in ROM.

Is yours arriving with the sampling memory maxed out?

I dont think so. I'm going to transfer the memory from my TC to the TEX. Its only 32mb or whatever the max is. I dont do much sampling at all, so i'm not worried about it. If I do, I can always get more.

It's dirt cheap to max it out if you ever want to do so. I just fiddled with the vocoder a bit, kinda cool. Between this beast and the M50, I am one happy Korg freak!

If the damn MOSS boards weren't so expensive I'd nab one. Maybe I should jump on it now cuz at this rate their prices will go up, not down.
