Radias - problem - changing wave form selection by itself!

Post by mhomho »

My radias has for the last couple of months, been changing the sound drastically as i am playing, without me changing any settings. i pressed the edit button and started playing and have found the culprit setting.

In page 6 of the settings (OSC/MIXER) at the bottom where it says "WaveSel" and then a number and a name (e.g. 001 EP Stage) this number has been changing itself as I play. it will, for example. jump from 001 E.P. Stage to 014 A. Guitar.

Has anyone else experienced or heard of this problem? Any idea how to fix it? Coz i have gigs coming up and if that happens mid-gig its going to sound awful..

any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Are you using the radias keyboard or do you have a separate midi controller? If you're using a midi controller then it could be a problem with the controller sending a message on its own. You can go into global settings on the radias and filter the midi messages it receives to test this. If not then it could be a problem with the knob itself, or maybe even an error in the os of the radias. You might try backing up all of your sounds to your computer and then reinstalling the os from the korg website. Also, try just leaving everything unplugged for about 5 minutes and then plug it all back in. Sometimes this helps.

Make sure you are not modulating Osc Control 2 with a Virtual Patch or Mod Sequence. If you are using an external controller, CC#17 affects Control 2.

it could also be that osc1 ctrl2 knob needs cleaning and is causing jumping problems. if you turn to knob catch mode then it should alleviate this problem (unless the patch setting is near to the knob position). you can find the 'catch mode' in the global settings, it means that the knob actually has to pass through the current value before changing it, although if you have page jump on it will still jump to that page every time it tries to change...
i've been noticing my radias jumping to the filter page recently, i think its my key-track knob...

you were right, the knob was dirty or something. I noticed that the value would jump if i pushed the knob in even a tiny bit. it must have been sensitive to the slightest bump which was making it change waveforms. I just turned the knob back and forth all the way lots of times and now its fine. Thanks for your help...

radias changing sounds

Post by Akiss »

I have some bad news to tell you.. I had the same problem plus that it will change the way it sounded completely. I had for a few days when it started and it was getting more and more in the end but not all the time. I took it to servixe they changed everything inside except from the outside panel.. they kept it on service for three weeks, and now it works fine ever since... It was amalfunction from the factory... dont compromise and have then change everything... back up before you go there..... good luck and I hope that your case will be different although it sounds the same....

oh thats quite scary.. i hope its not the same. pretty sure its not though it hasnt happened since i found out that knob was changing values by itself and fixed it... Also i think i have to pay for all servicing so that would cost me a lot, to replace it all.. the stupid warranty isnt valid in australia.. but korg dont tell you that till you open the box, after you have paid.. not good.
