No songs in default songbook on PA800?

Post by bratan »

Hi, I'm a new owner of a beautiful Korg PA800 :)
I really like that this keyboard is pretty intuitive, I was able to figure out many things quickly. One thing I still can't figure out, where are the songs in the default factory Songbook? When I press Song Book button I see lots of styles in it, but 0 songs :( My keyboard came with OS 2.0 (or maybe 2.1, how do I check system information?) and it's not brand new (Factory B-Stock).

The OS level will display on the start-up screen however, as you know little about its background, I would strongly advise you to download and install the latest OS and Resources - this will load all the factory standard settings.

Cheers

Hi bratan, and welcome.

There are no MIDI files in the Songbook, because, well, I guess Korg doesn't want to get into that area. To use 3rd-party songs would mean spending money to license them, since the good ones are not free.

The example songs are all Style-based, and are, well, examples. You can load your own MIDI file-based songs and create your own Songbook entries quite easily. Or even mp3-based ones with the mp3 board.

In other words the Songbook by default contains only setup to play those songs, styles and performances that are closest match for named songs. And due to the copyright they haven't put real names but in download section for pa1x you can find songbook with proper names to load into your keyboard.
And yes welcome to korgforums :D

Thanks a lot guys! :)
I reloaded OS anyway (looks like I had 2.0, so I loaded 2.01 plus resources).
Too bad they don't include midi songs, fortunately I have a ton of them :)
And thanks for welcoming me!

Hi Bratan,

Welcome to the mad house here on Korg Forums! If you get stuck on anything, feel free to post your question here, and there are lots of us who try to help you find the answer. Don't worry if it's been asked before.

We will shortly be starting a Wiki site for the Pa keyboards as part of Korg Forums on which many of the questions people have asked and the answers will be nicely catalogued and made much easier to find.

Meanwhile you might find the "Arranger Secrets" DVD's helpful to you in shortening the learning curve.

Best regards,
Rob

Hello Nikola,

You mentioned earlier in this thread that "in download section for pa1x you can find songbook with proper names to load into your keyboard". Could you be more specific? I can not find it. Thanks.

Hi Peter. You can find the edited songbook here. Look in the pa1x downloads section in the Arranger section. :)

Thank you, Keith. This is funny but you know I was looking for songbook with proper names on my keyboard. I was asking myself, where is download section on my pro, where I can find song book with proper names. I must have been in Hard Day's Night back then...
Fortunately, I am back in the business now.
