Help Needed ...Audio Tracks in Oasys

Post by awatu »

Hello...

Can anyone tell me in a simplified way how to record audio tracks in the Oasys? ...I use an external mic pre that I prefer and it was so simple in my Trinity ...You just plug into input 1 or 2; pull up the corresponding audio track: adjust levels and go ...In the Oasys, there seems to be so much routing and bussing that it confuses me ...If anyone can help, I'll be greatly appreciative ...Thanks, much.

Greetings & Well Wishes,
Steve :?

Hello Steve,
Recording into Audio Tracks should be quite easy. You can plug in a microphone in the back of the Oasys, either one of the two should work fine. There is a Phantom Button depending on which Mic your using you can use it or not. So make sure its in the right position otherwise it won't work. and there is a Volume for the Mic in the back next too the Plug in. make sure thats in atleast middle to get some sound.
Then Go to Audio Track 1 and press Record Start/Stop. and well uh Sing!!!! :D :D lol :P hehee

when I first recorded I didn't have to mess with Routing or nuthin.

hope that helps some?

Hi There, Puravida DJ...

Thanks, for your tips on recording vocals in the Oasys ...I'll be using a Joemeek mic pre/compressor ...So, I guess I'll just go audio in (as opposed to mic in) ...It looks like I need to adjust the level coming in at the inputs, as well ...Thanks, again ...I'll give it a try.

Cheers, ...Steve. :)

Don't forget to check the little MULTI-REC box on the top right side of the AUDIO TRACKS page. Check it, make sure your track is set to REC, instead of Play or Mute. Audio Input 1 (IN 1) should already be the default REC SOURCE.

Press PREFERENCES tab to see a level meter.

Here are a couple of videos that may help you:

Singing with Programs and Combis

This second video is a quicktime - one of my first "how tos", that I made a long time ago. It shows you how to route 3 or 4 effected versions of your voice, in just one recorded pass! A little advanced, but waaaay cool!

Mike...

I really appreciate your help, My Friend ...It's nice to know I'm not alone.

I'll make sure the multi-rec box is checked ...and, I'm going to check out those videos right now ...Thanks, again!

Yes, yes - the multi-rec box ...
Awatu, I recommend Mikes "Unofficial Oasys DVD" for the such basics of the Oasys. It has tons of videos for various sections on it. I understand that the routing seems confusing in the beginning.
Moreover you'll find a good description in a "step-by-step" manner in the thin manual for the Oasys. That's how I made my first steps. :D

I really want to get into the KO software, but haven't had time, yet. Such a video may happen, but will not be soon. There are one or two others that I would like to do, first.
