1: Where can I get the sound editor for mac?
2: How do I know what the tempo is at. I mean i know how to change the tempo and stuff but how do i know what the bpm is? I know the lowest is 20 and the highest is 300 but what are the others and the intervals?

In terms of tempo, if I understand you correct I think what you need to do is turn Edit Knob 2 to Arpeg A; then move the Cutoff/1 knob (which will now be tempo). The Arp will need to be on for you to see how your changes affect the sound.
To specifically answer your question, the LEDS will light up with the tempo of the current patch. Once you turn knob 1 to reach that tempo you can then alter the tempo. The LEDS will change as you change the knob indicating the current tempo. I hope that is specific enough. =]
Now if you mean the tempo (perceived or real) of an individual sound when the arp is not on... a lot of parameters could affect that, but I'm sure someone can give you a more technical response.

I found a free (mac) download of a program which converts prg files to midi posted on the following yahoo! group: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/korgms2000/ Its for OS X 10.4.9 or higher. I'm not clear on what the program is called - I think it's "OS X Automator Action"and apparently its a batch converter. I haven't used it because I have yet to work with prg files. What are prg files?i was wondering the same thing. And how do I use prg files on a mac? or can't you?
Still don't know what the "Sound Editor" for mac is.

prg files I believe are used by the windows version of the sound editor, but the mac version uses syx files or something similar.
the sound editor does what it says on the tin - it edits the sounds on your microkorg or MS2k.
well, not like actually editing any samples or stored waves as it has none, but allowing you to program all of the parameters from a computer - more intuitive especially for the microkorg rather than using the front panel as you see all parameters in front of you,

The editor only works with the microKorg, certainly the PC one does. It doesn't work with the MS2K, I know 'cos I once hacked a copy of the PC version to make it work. The PC version (and probably the Mac version) sends a sysex identity request to the synth and if it doesn't reply with the ID for a microKorg it ignores it.

thanks for the correction.
seems a bit odd to me as I always thought for example you should be able to program dump from a MK to MS2k, obviously there are only a few differences, whereas for example the radias/r3 gap is much wider.
anyway not having used the MS2k I never tried it. I suppose you could plug the MK in and then swap it over after the identity test? if you owned both... which seems a bit pointless to me. anyway i'm straying off topic.
