Post by OmarNoori »

Hello all, Sorry I have not been active lately (School  )

I heard that there was a Turkish website that installs an additional 64mb of ram. Anybody know the link? thanks

Not a risk I would take or recommend.

Warranty would be gone. Any keyboard problems thereafter could questionably be due to the non-standard memory addition.

BE VERY CAREFUL...

Cheers

They should've thought about this from the beginning. This Ram thing and combining set problem comes up every freaking day. I don't know how they can take so much criticism and still be so dead silent about it.

Would be nice if they had it in English so we can understand and there is no translation in Google either, can someone find out what the cost of this memory upgrade is? what it is exactly?

It has already been attempted, someone tried to add the 128 RAM from the Pa2X into the Pa800, but probably due to some software issue, the Pa800 still reads it as 64 MB and won't load more than 64 MB!

Someone said that it was soldered? It isn't soldered? Come'on KORG? can't you make the software to handle 128? This would be the biggest gift,I think we will pay to get this upgrade no matter what!!!

Hi ozzie,

This is a great info for everyone. I also spoke to one of the technician he told me it got nothing to do with hardware to replace the chip even I can replace it with 256MB or 512MB it has to do with the software to support it. that company replaces the chip for computer with very high tech machines .I think Korg should be come forward to support their consumers in order to keep them, especially in today’s economy.

Best regards,

I don't read Turkish but I can make out some words on the Korg Turkey web site www.korgtr.com, and all I can see is information about "Can Electronik" replacing the existing Korg 64 Mbyte RAM module if it is is faulty (you may recall that there has been a problem with sample RAM in the past). Maybe someone who does read Turkish could translate it for us?

On another thread in this forum, people including the esteemed BasariStudios said that a Turkish dealer has modified the Korg operating system and decoded the necessary address line to be able to get 128 Mbytes RAM to work. Although I was taken in initially, I now think it is unlikely to be true because there has been no evidence for this. There has been no contact from anyone with a Pa800 containing 128 Mbytes of Sample RAM. In any case, why stop at 128 Mbytes, why not fit the EXB-M256 card while you are at it - it looks almost the same

Several dealers, www.trsample.com included, sell a USB device containing new sounds and samples. These have to be copied into RAM before use. These USB devices do not expand the sample RAM capacity, they only eat it.

So, to silence this skeptic, could someone who has 128 Mbytes (or more) sample RAM working on a Pa800 please post a picture showing the sample RAM screen "Available Memory" as greater than 120,000,000 bytes?

Meanwhile, until evidence and contact details are provided on the forum, don't get your hopes up!! On the internet, if something seems too good to be true, then it probably isn't.

And believe me, I would like owners of Pa800 keyboards to be able to load 256 Mbytes of samples. I have a few sets ready for you, but I fear you will have to buy a Pa2x with an EXB-M256 card fitted first.

As far as I know, KORG Turkey does not do this modification. BUT, I did find somebody else that does it (I am not talking about trsample). I will be expanding my PA800 to 128MB in a couple of weeks. As soon as I do it, I will let you know the results and will give you all other information.

Hello Rob:

I am really confused now. If I remember correctly, you have mentioned before that the memory chip is soldered and can not be replaced but per photos by Ozzie, they are not soldered. I guess the question is how to make the Pa800 see or to recognize the 128 Mb chip? This a good news but at the same time really confusing.

Best regards,

Fahim,
