Live Performance - Modulate OSC1 Pitch with LFO1...

Post by bradthedesigner »

Please help. I've really tried hard to get this working...and I'm not a newbie to synth editing, but this has me stumped...and it just might not be possible on the microKorg.

Let me explain:
I want to be playing a nice little synthy lead live and then turn some knobs and start really modulating the pitch (with the LFO) but I want to be able to control the amount of the LFO as I'm also controlling the speed/freq/tempo of the LFO with another...so I can really go crazy with the sound.

Is this possible?

It seemed to me to be no way to control the AMOUNT that the LFO controls the pitch (from 0 all the way to 127). I can control the LFO speed with the Tempo knob as long as it's tempo locked.

Also, if there is no way on the Micokorg...is there a way I can program my Oxygen 49 knobs to control those parameters?

Any help would be really appreciated!

thanks,
brad

you can control the amount through the virtual patch (changing the mod intensity). I'm assuming you know how to use the virtual patch section.

However, I also understand that the virtual patch and the LFO parameters aren't on the same page.

If you were using LFO2, you could just use the vibrato function through the modwheel in order to change the intensity, and still be on the right page in order to edit the LFO speed (by turning the knob to the LFO2 page, placing you in 'edit' mode). there is nothing wrong with being in edit mode whilst performing :)

OR i suppose if you really want to use LFO1, this will use up an extra virtual patch slot, but you can route modwheel to LFO1 speed, and then play around with another virtual patch which controls LFO1>Pitch.

you can also map your controller keyboard's knobs to the MK's different parameters. there is a complete MIDI cc specification towards the back of your MK's manual, which lists which midi controller number is related to which parameter in the synth.
