r3 connectivity with ableton - question

hey, how does one go about connecting their r3 with abltn live 7?

edit for clarity:

im using the full retail version of ableton live 7.

moreover, I'm using the edirol ua25ex (usb 2.0, stereo audio interface)

I want to connect midi from my r3, and audio from my guitar.

I've connected everything, and have gone into preferences.

Under audio, I've selected my respective audio interface.


When I motion to the midi tab, I have a list of control surfaces, none of which are the r3, Radias, or korg. However, I may select the midi input and output as the edirol ai.

So, have I connected it correctly?

&, how does one go about testing this connectivity & 'drawing' beats or activating midi?

Hi,

To record the audio from the R3 you need a stereo audio interface.

To control the R3 from Ableton you need the full version, the Lite and LE versions have midi out crippled. If you have the full version you should see the R3 as an available midi out in the preferences.
