Was all excited. Without turning it on, put in the 256M upgrade and radias expansion. Fired it up. All seemed OK
until...
Once I started playing with it, I found that pads 2 and 5 didn't work at all. Even if you hit them with a hammer, they wouldn't have worked.
Then I plugged in the USB memory stick to upgrade the OS (thinking it could be a corrupt OS or something) and the USB slot's pins were bent up and when I plugged in the USB stick, it bent them completely back.
Is it just me or is Korg's QC not that great? I went through 3 Triton Pro's before the 4th was shipped straight from the factory to my door which has been fine ever since.
Gosh man....sorry to hear about your problems!!!!
really sucks when you just wanna hop on it and rock. I have heard of Horror stories concerning UPS and I would tend to think it was their fault rather than Korgs.
I really hope you get it figured out, up and Krunkin' in no time.

I did NOT try the pad calibration simply because USB 1 port was jacked. I couldn't insert a thumb drive in it.
I bought it from American Musical. I first bought the M50 and shipped that back immediately (due to the stuck key bug). Then they shipped the M3. The replacement should be here Tuesday.
But, within a few minutes, I realized a couple quick things:
1. The M3 is 10 times the synth my Triton is. I wish I hadn't waited so long now.
2. Everybody is right that says the M3 is flat soundwise out of the box. I'm a constant sound tweaker so it won't be a problem.
3. EXB-Radias is awesome.
I really wanted to use it this weekend but I don't mind waiting. It's such an improvement over the Triton. I'll still probably pick up the M50 at some point for gigs where I don't need the samples or the XY pad.

p.s. I'd NEVER take a hammer to a Korg product. I've given them too much money to show any type of disrespect like that!
p.s.s. Still debating the Radias-R to add to it. The lack of integration and the redundancy of the EXB-Radias is one reason. The second is, what if Korg comes up with a better/cooler Komponent rack module later?

now you are making more sense
Its possible AMS shipped you a re-pack or a previous return
It makes you think, I just had two "new" keyboards that I returned to GC.
Both broken when I got them. I know two other people that did returns on broke "new" keyboards.
They have very low inventory in the stores maybe due to the economy. It is starting to look like returns are going out as new by more than one vender.

past KorgDW8000/ KorgX2 / Korg N-88/Alesis Q6/ Alesis Q8
I did call AMS and was assured that my synth was new (and the support lady explained how I can tell by different part numbers). As a result of the hassle, they refunded me some money (price paid for the 73 key is now less than $2,000 which is decent) and gave me 2nd day air shipping.
As long as my next M3 is fine, I don't mind the hassle other than it doesn't give me a whole lot of time to start programming all the patches I need for my next gig. I may have to hold off using it for a while as a result.
May be we should open a sticky thread to list all the serial numbers of returned / problematic units. Then we can - to some extent - identify if the piece is a lemon.

She doesn't know what she is talking about.
Retailers that offer liberal return policies (e.g. 3 days full money back) are supposed to not resell returns as 'New' however I suspect some retailers ignore this rule (I know GC/Musician's Friend does).
This is why I wish retailers would stop offering free returns. If someone just doesn't like a product and returns it, the retailer has to make a decision -- sell the product at a discount since it really isn't new anymore or sell the item as "new" to someone who hopefully can't tell the difference.
