installing OS 3.1

Seems like I wont be able to install OS3.1 because my new laptop dosent have a 1.44 disk floppy drive...only a CDRW drive.Anyone have a suggestion?
This is probably one of Korgs problem areas whereas the YOU CANT LOAD DIRECTLY THRU USB PORT.

any help would be apprieciated

Pauli, you can buy external floppy disk drive, they are very cheap, around $45 to $65.

If you are really really stuck and cannot get access to (or buy) a diskette drive, I can send you the diskettes in the mail - may take 1-2 weeks from here to the US.

Just let me know...

Hello Pete and Pauli:

Does my memory serve me right? I seem to recall that you can use the Floppy Disk Drive built into the PA1X to down load OS from your PC via the USB. Then in a separate operation you can reinsert each disk in sequence to load the latest OS.

I hesitate to offer this because it doesn't make sense to me and I've never done it. Does anyone know if it can be done this way?

Not sure about that - I see what you mean..
..copy the "built" diskette files to the Korg HD and then copy those files onto floppies within the PA1Xpro

Yes,it appears you can create Operating System Disks from your computer using the Pa1x floppy Disk Drive. Refer to pagee 1 of Korg Upgrading Proceedures

It states:

"Creating Operating System disks with a
computer lacking a floppy disk drive
Modern Macs, as well as several of today’s PCs, don’t include a
floppy disk drive. If so, you can (a) buy an external USB floppy
disk drive, to be connected to your computer, or (b) create system
disks directly from the Pa1X’s floppy disk drive. In this case,
your Pa1X must be fitted with a hard disk."
