Oasys Footswitch issue

Post by audiophile »

Hi all!

I have a problem with my oasys, would need some help if possible!
I have my footswitch assigned to data increment so i can change sounds live. Everything was fine but now the "O" change 2 or more sounds when i hit the switch, sometimes when i press the button to change the sound it does the same thing, i can´t play live with my oasys anymore. Any help? i can make a movie to show you guys the problem!
Thank you very much you all.

Ps: I tried almost everything, cleaning inside, formatting, etc. doesn't help!

I'm sorry that you're having difficulties. I'd suggest contacting your national Korg Distributor's technical support department; they should be able to help. For contact info, see the link in my signature.

Which footswitch are you using? I have Korg PS-1 and sometimes it skips more than 1 combi/program, depending of the ammount of pressure I put on the pedal. Kinda annoying, but I guess it´s a pedal issue (in my case), nothing to do with the Oasys.

Jordan Rudess uses Roland FS-5U and seems to work fine

I use a footswitch for the same task.
Until I insisted on cheap PROEL pedals I had the same kind of problems.
(like you I tried several time with the contacts cleaning........).
Same kind of pedal, but used for sustain, gave different kind of problems........but still problems they were.
Since I bought a couple of heavy Yamaha FC5 everything is working perfeclty.
I also have two FC7 for volume controls (one is MIDIed with a CV/MIDI box). I also find them two very reliable tools.
I have been using those Yamaha pedals for a couple of years.

Thanks for your responses!

I actually use the same pedal as rudess, i have 2 of them and both do the same, the thing that worries me the most, is that when i press the button down it does the same thing as the pedal.

I tried other pedals, same results. sometimes it skips like 10 patches in a row.
I have no Korg Distributor's technical support department near me. And my oasys lost his warranty a couple of months ago.

I believe the problem is a button malfunction, but that makes no sense when happens when i hit the pedal. So maybe it's a sotware problem i don't know!

Is the OASYS connected to a larger system via MIDI? I'm wondering about a MIDI loop...

Now in my "homestudio" is connected to the computer, but i tried with nothing connected, the footswich only, does the same.
This started to happen sometime ago in a gig, then became worst skiping more than two sounds, so i stop using the switch for a while and now i tried again no better.
I tried assign the pedal to data increment and program up and it's the same.
Ps: Sorry about my english i'm doing my best here :)

Yep! In the OASYS and in the pedal.
But the last few days it's been better only skip 2 programs at a time, sometimes.

Thank you very much.

In Portugal, the distributor is:

CAIUS MUSIC BUSINESS CONNECTION, IDA

PRACA DO BOM SUCESSO, 61-BOM SUCESSO TRADE CENTER-SALA 701-702 4150-146 PORTO-PORTUGAL
TEL : 351-22-6080610
FAX : 351-22-6080629
pedro.guimaraes@caius.pt

They should be able to help you with support on the phone, in your own language, which is often a fast way to resolve technical issues.

I agree. This is why I think it's something else, such as a MIDI feedback loop. You mention using it with nothing connected; just to confirm, did you physically remove the MIDI cables from the OASYS?
