It's a damn shame there won't be anymore of that synthesis/effects software coming to the Oasys ....
As I said earlier I am surprised so few people are popping up to express that sentiment.[/quote]
I bet almost all the Oasys owners around the world don't even visit this site.
I have owned Korg keyboards for 16 years and have only just come across this site a few months ago.
I only registered a couple of weeks ago purely after reading the news about the Oasys.

of late there has been some conjecture
on the state of "open" architecture
is it open or closed
were we lied to and hosed
when we heard the promotional lecture
we suddenly felt korg deserted us
when jerry announced and alerted us
they were pulling the plug
on our musical drug
do they realize how this dis-concert-ed us?
here's prayin' and wishin' and hopin'
that the "open" OASYS stays "open"
'cuz as good as it is
we've been given the biz
there's an emptiness in only copin'
so korg won't you please reconsider
don't leave us all angry and bitter
please drop us a letter
say you'll make it all better
cuz nobody cares for a quitter
just imagining how you guys must feel

I think now, even after so many repetitive post's, the way to be is not What the OASYS "WAS" But what "WILL BE". You can only go so far in this thread that - to be honest, is just going round in circles (of which I am a contribitor too
). So i think our efforts now should be to support all those people who ARE going to develop new software for the OASYS.
What will be will be, I think, even if the thread goes on for a 1000 pages. I don't (my self) see any result happening from KORG.inc by this thread, i don't. People here (Inc myslef) are dissapointed with the discontinuation of the bit O, but with KARO, and Sharp (Sample assualt) etc etc to name but many) It should be a time to rejoice! not lament!, My OASYS sounds as good now as it did a month or so ago
Tell you wha t though, it's all been about the sequencer hasn't it

Jerry, you posted on the 6th, and both US and UK websites have not changed. Nothing about the discontinuation of the Oasys anywhere.jerrythek wrote:Regarding the websites with old text, you are completely correct. We'll fix that today.
I'm sorry.

Come on now, surely this is false advertising to say that the Oasys is a platform to support innovation for years to come, when it has actually been discontinued. In fact I am sure this is a case for the Trade Descriptions Act.
Before people start, I am not threatening anything, just reminding people at Korg that is all.

Sorry, we're in the process of revising the text on the pages.
But note that we don't quickly "announce" discontinuation of products on our webpages. On korg.com when we do that all the product info etc. will go away, and only the support materials will remain. So since there are still units in the filed to be sold I'm not going to do that. But all the "offending" and inaccurate text is being fixed.
Sorry again for the delay.

No wonder Korg websites aren't updated regulary, I mean, look at Korg Japan inc. and this korg rep here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IM8cei-W ... re=related
Playing around with the OASYS when they should be sorting our board out - shame on them

I bet you dont.
I know you don't believe me David, but I really do feel for you guys. On a much smaller scale, the same sort of thing happened shortly after I bought my Trinity V3 -which was interestingly enough a direct descendant of the original OASYS project as I understand it... prototypes of that original OASYS keyboard looked very much like a black Trinity - anyway, the Triton came out and Korg suddenly dropped Trinity development like a hot potato to focus on Triton. (Trinity still remains the nicer sounding of the two to me though... Triton added more voices and features and goodies, at the expense of sound quality... shades of M3)
I will respect you though and step out of this topic. There's enough angst and ill will here already without me adding my "2 cents worth" again. Sorry.
Hope to see you in a happier thread...

The comparison of the Trinity>Triton scenario, really doesn't cover the same ground as the Oasys developments coming to a close.
The Trinity could only be expanded with the hardware options, and that was it,Korg never marketed it to be anything else,I was one of the people who also had a Trinity, and was too say the least annoyed at the Triton replacing it,but never saw the Trinity as anything more than what was offered during its production.
As always I upgraded to the Triton,as it had some very nice stuff inside that the Trinity didn't,although I kept my Trinity,I knew it would happen sooner of later as most Workstations from Korg only really last about 18 months or so in support patterns and either see a new machine or a facelift simply rebadged as something else
With the Oasys,we were buying into a development that wouldn't see that obsolete pattern after a few years,so in essence the price tag didn't seem that ridiculous, after all an upgrade from a Trinity>Triton buying from new has cost for me about 2/3rds of the Oasys,so a machine that would see future developments on a more or semi permanent basis on a longer time scale than past workstation as we were lead to beleive it seemed a good investment and perhaps a less costly solution to constant upgrading as I and many others have done
Now some few years down the Line we are in the same situation but now what???as technology moves on we have to ask ourselves is the cost justifiable again.it will certainly be a decision I won't take lightly again, but what the Oasys has will be more than enough to keep me going soundwise for many years,I just feel slightly deflated that they'll be little movement in its future, when it could be so much more refined
Can you actually fully understand our predicaments???,in some ways possibly, but unless you bought an Oasys at full retail price based on the principle of what it was being marketed as,doubt it,its not the same as a Trinity which was never given an open ended design so its only going to sustain a short production run,
There are so many things that could be done or added with the Oasys internally because of its OS and components that the Hardware isn't really dictating its future in terms of expansion and support options in the same way a Triton or Trinity had

Number of OASYS produced?
I have just joined "the club of OASYS owners". Expecting deliverance this week. (And, Yes I knew the production was ended when I ordered it.)
The price for an 88 was reduced by nearly 50%, and I relly wanted one.
In any case, here is my question:
Is there anyone here on the forum (or at Korg) that can give the exact number of units produced? -And are the 88 and the 76 numbered in the same series? The highest number I've seen here on the forum was in the 2100's.
OASYS 76 ?
OASYS 88 ?

You dont have to apologize, Ricky, I do value your input, as any other, on this unfortunate matter.ricky recordo wrote:Hi DavidbDavidb wrote:Hi again Ricky.ricky recordo wrote:

However, I think Kontrol49 is right in regard of the Trinity /OASYS comparison you did, theres no point, as he rightly, as usual, expains above. ( No need to elaborate again )
BTW guys, what a fantastic keyboard the Trinity is, even today. Oh boy. One of the Korg finest ever. Nice to see you both keep it.

So do I.Hope to see you in a happier thread...
As I replied you in another thread days ago, its nice to see you over here once more, alive and "kicking".

Regards mate.
Regards.

Re: Number of OASYS produced?
No one at Korg will likely ever give you an exact number. About the best you can do is take a look at this list over at my forums where people supplied serial numbers. Feel free to add yours when you get it!Trommis wrote:Is there anyone here on the forum (or at Korg) that can give the exact number of units produced? -And are the 88 and the 76 numbered in the same series? If so where, I'm looking to get an OASYS 88.
