Great idea! All my prog and combi banks are full also - would love a Shift button.Sharp wrote:I won't get to try these until the weekend ... I've got a lot of AKAI progarms sitting in memory...
...I don't have anywhere near enough banks and the Function button could double up as Shift Button to access additional banks.
But - I just discovered that I can store unlimited extra sets on a flash USB stick - and then audition them right from the stick. No need to worry about what you already have in memory. I can open the PCG instead of loading it, and just flip through the progs and combis, they all work instantly.
I think I will also use this method for playing live. Just set up a bunch of combis on the USB stick for each type of show, in whatever order I want, and then flip through them one at a time.

Thanks
Thanks for the new Sounds. It s just a pitty, that there are no more free program slots, so I have to reorganize my soundbanks and therefore to reprogram all the combis which are affected by the program changes. I have purchased a new OASYS-88 last summer. After using it for just some hours, some keys already began to have a spring noise. Some buttons need more and more force, till they react. The whole hardware is very flimsy for an instrument of this price. Than some weeks later, I had to buy something to compensate the sequencer of the OASYS, which destroys the original outstanding sound quality of the OASYS. So i had to purchase an OpenLabs MiKo Gen5. I am really happy now with my OASYS 88 and the MiKo-LXD (with Spectrasonics, XLN-Audio and SONNOX Plugins). This combination is a dream. But I can't help to say, that the OASYS was my first KORG-Synthesizer I've ever purchased (I've used YAMAHA, ROLAND and CLAVIA only) and probably the last one. It is one of the very best sounding and most powerful and musical Synthesizer on the planet, but the hardware is really unreliable and flimsy. I MEAN, FINALLY I AM USING THE OASYS-88 as a super expensive sound modul in SINGLE MODE, because in MULTI MODE you do not have access to the program parameters. I am in love with the sound of the OASYS and therefore I would never sell it. But the OASYS was finally a well promoted rip-off and it was my mistake to believe that this will be the final ALLinONE solution, what the promotion suggested.
But thank you KORG for having taken the risk to produce the OASYS. I am sure you have learned a lot from this experience.

Re: Thanks
Perhaps it might be good to consider a different approach. I just save projects to the hard drive. I've never had to re-program a single Combi or Sequence, since they are all stored along with the necessary Programs, Drum Kits, and Wave Sequences in a PCG file.Dany wrote:Thanks for the new Sounds. It sounds to me like you have a defective unit. Fortunately, it also sounds like it's still under warranty. I'd recommend that you contact your national Korg distributor, and they'll be able to help you to get it repaired.Dany wrote:I have purchased a new OASYS-88 last summer. Personally, my OASYS has been in continuous use for over 4 years, and I have none of the problems that you describe. I can't imagine describing the hardware as "flimsy."
Finally - I understand the concerns that you and Daz have voiced about editing sounds in multi-timbral mode. In the meantime, I can only recommend that you try to take full advantage of Tone Adjust, which generally gives you access to the most important parameters.
Best regards,
Dan

Thanks a lot for your answer and your time.
-I will follow your advise and send the OASYS back to my distributor here in Switzerland in order to fix the annoyng spring noise and the buttons, which doesn't react correctly. When I wrote my last post, I was a bit frustrated about the hardware and it is finally quite annoying that I have to send back my OASYS. Because of my momentary frustration about this, I have overstated my oppinion about the quality of the hardware a bit, so I have to correct myself: It is not flimsy, but the quality control at KORG obviously is not the best. I hope that after having fixed these hardware problems, I won't have to bother anymore with them and can enjoy the beauty of this synth.
-I guess it is inevitable to take the approach that you suggest regarding program space. There is indeed more than enough memory space to save thousands of projects.
-Single/Combi paramater access: Of course there is still "tone-adjust", but it is not as beautiful, as the graphic interface of the MS-20 and Polysix.
You can find other posts and comments from me on this forum and at karma-lab, where I praise KORG for the OASYS.
Thanks again for your time and advise.
Best wishes, Dany

Re: Thanks
I'm really sorry for the necessity of sending it in for service. I understand that this would be annoying. Hopefully, they will be able to repair it quickly!Dany wrote: -I will follow your advise and send the OASYS back to my distributor here in Switzerland in order to fix the annoyng spring noise and the buttons, which doesn't react correctly. When you send it to them, it would probably be good to note the exact buttons that are being problematic. I don't remember hearing of this before, but I hope that it will be easy for them to fix.

Dan

THANKS!
Thank you, Korg! These sounds are wonderful. I've spent the last few hours with just the first bank!
