MicroX screen issues?

Post by Bigs »

The last few days the screen of my MicroX started showing some strange lines around the display area:

It looks like there are cracks (altough very neat and systematic) through which the backlight bleeds. It doesn't look harmful, but I'd like to know if it's the beginning of a bigger problem.

I still have two months warranty left, so I can bring it in if this is going to be a serious issue.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention.. most of the time they (dis)appear by pressing the screen.

I think it has to do with the construction around the screen, so it could harmless. But I've never noticed it before (I've had the MicroX for almost a year) so I'm unsure.

If the scratches are permanent i think it's better for you to bring it to your local assistance service or seller for showing the malfunction and having suggestions and eventually repair it.

If the scratches appear pressing the screen and after few seconds desappear by themselves, like happens to me, probably it' normal. MicroX is very nice but can't say it's well builted. i think you agree with me that the unit is fragile...

I have the exact same on mine so I wouldnt worry too much....it must be said that i'm not terribly impressed with the overall build quality of the micro...definately wont stand up to the rigours of live or touring but itll be fine in the studio :)

True, it's clearly not meant for the road. If I ever meet a good aluminium worker I'm going to ask him to redo the silver-coloured side plastics in aluminium. That would be a cool upgrade.

It sure looks to me like the LCD has cracked, or is at least being stressed. If you're under warranty I would send it in. Even if it is just stress it could still fail eventually.

Agreed... I was quite disappointed with the Micro-X build quality.

pushing on the screen, no matter what the product, is never a solution and will only diminish the life of the lcd. you should never, ever do that. a cracked lcd = will most likely eventually die or make the screen unreadable as it leaks and the crystals shift more and more over the years. its more likely to do that than flat out die though, but i wouldnt tolerate it, specially if its still new and under warranty. i would never buy one like that used.

I know this is an old(ish) topic, but it's important for anyone else who finds this to know...

Ive had that "problem" on both of my Micro X's the DAY I got them...
-One Ive owned for 2 weeks and returned because of a faulty pitch wheel (otherwise fine!)
-One Ive owned for a year (or two...?), and despite pushing on the screen and getting that when you do... it's been fine.

Its probably a light in the screen getting pushed too close etc.
