R3 static/soft sound issues. HELP!

Post by collias »

I have owned an R3 for about 6 months now. I have never had any issues with it at all, until a few days ago. Now, for some unknown reason, whenever I turn it on, soft static comes through the speakers, and the actual sound coming from the R3 is really soft (I have to turn my speakers up all the way just to make it audible). This is definitely something wrong with the R3 itself, as I've tried hooking it up to computer speakers, as well as an amp, with the same static problem on both.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I'm really at a loss as to what to do. My band has some live shows coming up soon, so I need to get this figured out pretty soon.

Thanks!

All these views and no replies? Is everyone just as clueless as I am on this issue? That's a scary thought.

I honestly have no idea what to do. Does anyone have any experience with getting their synth repaired? If so, where should I send it, what should I pay for repairs? I really need to resolve this quickly.

Thanks!

Hi collias,

i now have my radias out of repair for the 3rd problem.

First was the value dial jumping, now it is the headphnoe jack is no more working and the pitch bender is broken.

First time was on guarantee (german law: seller has to repair the item within 24 months after purchase on its own cost). Radias was sent to krog germany and returned after aprox. 2 weeks.

No it is out of guarantee and i gave it to my local dealer which has a synth technician. Will cost me around EUR 100 and take 2-8 days depending on the time to get replacement pitch bender.

Hope that helps.

Ciao, Dirk.

Well, my problem seemed to go away by itself. I had a few days of the R3 working flawlessly.

But now, a new problem. For some reason, my left output works fine, but my right output is very quiet.

Has anyone else come across this problem?

sounds like it may be related to the same problem before. possibly the preamp or some other connection.
Forums aren't really any good for this. no-one is going to tell you to go inside and screw it up yourself even more. you need to take it to a KORG repair centre (in the US), or a qualified technician, or take it back to where you got it, they'll either send it off or give you a replacement.

It seems to be a common problem with this synth.
My second hand unit sometimes works fine and other times one channel and the right headphone stop working, and sometimes a static sound appears too or some click noise at the middle of some long factory pad.

I get a weird "static/wind" sound in the headphones or amp when I turn on the R3. I just assumed this was normal.

What is not normal is that the left channel in the headphones is now muted / distorted / muffled. I'm hoping that is not a hardware issue.
