Looking for an ATA case for the Korg PA-800. Bespeko cases look excellent, but I've not had a satisfactory reply from the company. Can anyone suggest an ATA case. I do not want a custom made case - too heavy. I do not want a Gator zip around Trolly case - no sufficent protection for the Touch Screen. This has got a be an ATA case with castors and pull handle & available in Europe.

Eamon

This ATA (with wheels) case from Gator will fit the Pa800 nicely: it's called the Gator GK-276-DEEP

Where do you live? You can get the case from Sweetwater in USA or from Thomann in Europe.

sorry to contradict you, but Bespeco do actually make ATA cases of a type, known as Elephant cases, I actually have one that fits the Korg PA-50 & PA-80 & M3 perfectly. Great cases. I e-mailed Bespeko asking them to assist me, they past me to their main supplier in Dublin. They could not help. Hence my post.

thanks for this suggestion. It's an excellent case. I don't mind it been 1" too deep, after all they have to fit several boards as per my present Bespeko, however it's 5" too high. There seems to be nothing else on the market. The other thing I notice about the Gator case is that it weighs 24lbs, almost the same weight as the PA800, hard to beleive, considering all the components in the PA800 against an empty shell ! A great opening for someone who can come up with lighter keyboard cases in the year of the big R

Hi Eamon,
That is a lightweight ATA case, believe me! The older wooden ATA cases weighed 45 lbs, almost twice as much as the Pa800.
Personally I ship my keyboards abroad in the original manufacturer's packing, and with nylon straps or luggage straps around the outside to make them easier to lift for the shipper. For the Pa800 the original packaging only weighs 10 lbs, so for me that would be the best option for shipping. It's also the preferred option for Korg's repair centers. The expanded foam packaging is designed to be crush proof and to withstand the same sort of compression loads that an ATA case has to withstand. So don't discard your original box and moulded polystyrene!!
When I go gigging locally, I transport the keyboards in the back of my RAV4 and I use Gator soft cases with trolley wheels for both my Pa2x and M3. Those soft cases weigh less than half the ATA case, and there is a helluva lot of packaging and really good padded straps inside them to prevent knocks and scratches. Obviously I could not put a heavy bass reflex speaker on top of a soft case, since they will not withstand stacking, whereas an ATA case (or the original packaging) has to be strong enough to have four or five 30 kg suitcases stacked on top of it in an airplane.
I sometimes wish I'd learned to play guitar and not keyboards. I might have a longer life, free of hernia and back injuries!
Best regards,
Rob
