Studio Powered Monitor

Post by Phunky »

Hi everyone,

I was looking for a pair of powered studio monitor to go with my Triton Ex.
A friend of mine recommended the Adam A5 to me and when I went to the shop to have a listen, it was really impressive. It was selling AUD 990 per pair now and the guy at the shop told me the price will go up to AUD 1100 once the offer expires.

Here's the link of the Adam A5

I was wondering what type of studio monitors did most of you guys use and what's your recommendations for the decent pair of monitors.

Thanks heaps! :D

I LOVE these Genelecs, and have seen them in a lot of professional studios:

Good luck! I prefer these over the Adams, but its all preference.

STUDIO POWERED MONITORS

Post by PAPAPETE »

HEY PHUNKEY,

MONITORS ARE IN THE EAR (AND POCKETBOOK,UNFORTUNATELY) OF THE LISTENER. IF YOU HAVE THE OPPROTUNITY, GIVE A LISTEN TO NUMEROUS MONITORS BEFORE DECIDING. i AM CURRENTLY USING MACKIE HR624s AND THEY WORK FOR ME.

HAPPY HUNTING,

PAPAPETE

Hiya!

Thanks for the suggestions. I've listened to the Yamaha HS50M, HS80M and the KRK RP6G2 but the Adam really stood out. The Mackie MR8 is great but kinda too big for the shelf and the price is pretty out of my budget unfortunately.

The Genelec 8020A is ok but not to my liking unfortunately. There seems to be something missing just like the KRK which I couldn't tell. Like the mid range is a bit hollow in my opinion.

The Yamaha is the worst among all. Very tiring to my ears after listening to it for about 15 minutes. The high range is good but lack of bottom and base.

So far, the Adam A5 is the ideal for me in terms of the sound it produced. Very musical and pretty sweet and rounded and warm. And it's not too big either putting it on the shelf. Just nice!

There isn't much choice to choose from here in Aust (Melbourne) when comes to audio and Hi-tech gadgets. Even if you manage to find one, it will cost a a fortune!
