I use Ableton mostly for the padKONTROL.. but I usually end up opening individual samplers for each one.
The way it's set up is for ONE sample to be played as different keys like on any other sampler that is arranged like a piano/keyboard.
But how do I set it up so that each individual pad triggers a different sample?? Or can you recommend a plugin/program for this that is better to use than the Ableton standard sampler?
I also want to know how to set up the pads to play different parts of one sample.
this is a simple question, I'm sure.. so I appreciate any help you can offer..
padKONTROL - assign samples to individual pads??

if you are on the Mac, and you have GarageBand 3
then you can do it for free

i have to thank thysm00 over at KVR forum for this one
however you MUST have GB 3, older or newer versions do not seem to have this facility
otherwise you could invest in polyphontics or a cheap but cheeky fun thing called alphabet soup,
or wait until Extreme Sample Converter comes out with "the Mapper"

Check out the Drum Rack stuff in Ableton Live that lets you assign individual Sampler instances (or any other other plugin) to individual notes. If you're running an older version of Live that doesn't have that then you can just use the built-in Impulse sampler to assign different samples to different notes.
You could even just note mapping in Live to assign each pad note to trigger a different clip !

press setting, tap a pad, press note/cc turn the dial
make sure that the pad is set to the same channel as the sampler.
when connecting via usb, make sure that the correct midi out (padkontrol has three) is selected
(midi a, midi b and thru i think)
if you have the usb connected is will disable the midi port at the back of the machine.
try to get a firm understanding of how midi controllers interact with synths in general. the principles apply to any midi controler and synth setup, not just korg or whatever.
