Both roughly same price, but from pictures I have seen, the xl has a much more minimal interface which I guess would make it harder to use?
Also what are the main advantages to each over the other?
I'm goin to bed now, so won't read replies till morning so fire away with all your opinions and arguments of each
I should point you to this which came up here a few weeks ago. if you use the 'search' button to search, you should get a few results, but here is one that you should find particularly useful: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... hp?t=41722
Overall the MicroKorg has a dirtier character straight off, but you can do more with the MicroKorg XL - its more flexible.
The XL isn't really related to the MicroKorg at all because it is based on the MMT synth engine in the radias.
if you like to play complex chords and such like I do too you will also find that the improved 8 note polyphony is much better, particularly if you want to layer two sounds together (giving a maximum polyphony of 4 on the XL, or limiting you to only being able to press two notes on the original MK)

how many timbres can you play at once on the XL???
Its kinda dissapointing when you have the MK all hooked up via midi, and all you can get it too play is 2 timbres at once. A split timbre feature would be cool, does the XL have that?
Still 2. If you want a lot of simultaneous music, get a ROMpler like the X50 which is 16 part multitimbral with up to 62 polyphony, along with a powerful wave shaping engine.
