Pa800 How Can I organize my styles from different sets?

Post by naw »

Hello All,

I have a question. I have 3 different sets which has many styles. I wanted to combine my top styles from all 3 sets into 1 set.

I tried manually loading a style into a different set and the sounds are off.

Does anyone know of a way around this?

Thanks

Hi there. Yes it can be done quite easily by using a program called XRM. All details and a Tutorial on my Website here... Won't deal with Custom sounds though - no software can do that at the moment. This program deals with styles and performances.

Yes indeed for pa2x/800/500/588/pa1x and pa80 styles also. The program was written by Mick Barry and I use it for my pa2x style banks:)

Can't see what the problem can be then as I'm running exactly the same OS as yourself with no problem. Had it have been Vista I could have understood it. If you were to install keeping the old versions of System32 files I can't see you doing any harm. The program was written in Visual Basic and is compatible. What I would do is create a new Restore point and then install the program but keeping the old files stated by Windows. If that doesn't work or causes any problems then you could go back to your new restore point.
Personally I would do that but it's up to you. It's your pc after all. :!:

ok these are some files with confliction: MSVCRT.DLL, Scrrun.dll
but when i keep the existing file, the program installed and it seems to be working ok...

so i can manage the syles now, but it is not clear if i want to choose style x- y- z on my new bank, do all user sounds and pcm and user dk related to these three also go to the specific bank?? :? ...thanks

HI

Glad it worked out for you.

XRM only manages styles and Performances.

At present, along with some others are working on developing an editor for the PA series which will also manage user sounds and dk etc. However because of the way the data is compressed it is a slow process trying to decode this.

within each style is a pointer to to storage locations of user sounds and dk used in that style and, at present, if those are moved the style will no longer sound the same. The is the reason why XRM does not manage user sounds, the ability was programmed into it at the same time the performance rountines were added but in the version realised this was disabled to avoid conflicts with other styles pointing to a user sound in a particular "slot" which had been over written.

There have been many topics on the subject of merging style sets using user sounds in the forum and a tutorial has been written showing how laborious this can be and how it can be done.
Regards

Yes Mick, I just wanted to say that. There are some tutorials that you can find which explain how to merge different SETs into one.

It is not difficult, just time consuming :)
