high pitch sound in Monitors, and headphones on 4way GP prog

Post by jake88 »

K, so on the 4-way Grand Piano program, theres this high pitch annoying sound that comes through with all of the higher notes on the keyboard. I tried taking some highs out on the EQ, that helps a little, but then it doesn't really sound like a piano anymore....does anyone know of a filter parameter that will eliminate this? The noise is audible even after I go through sequencing and what not.

THanks!!

Hi Jake,

No this doesn't happen on my M3. If you like, I'll try to help diagnose what's gone wrong.

a) Does it recur if you listen via headphones?

b) Do you have an EXB_M256 card fitted? If so, try removing it and load just EX-USBPCM03.KEP into the internal RAM. Does the same thing happen?

Regards,
Rob

Is it the damper samples on Osc2 you're hearing? These only appear when the dampler pedal is down. You could try muting Osc2 to see if thats it. The other option would be to disable all the effects and then turn them back on again in turn to see if there is one effect thats introducing the sound you're hearing.

Thanks so much for the replies guys!

Rob, this annoying high pitch sound does come through in the headphones too. It's not like it takes away from the piano sound, it's just...well I would rather it not be there.

Also, I don't have the EXB_M256 card. I am however going to delete the kep file and re-download i from the Korg Website, and see if anything changes.

Alogie, I didn't even think about the damper samples with the second oscillator, so I will try that too.

Thank Rob and Alogie for helpin me diagnose this problem:)

I suddenly had the same problem. A refitting of the EXB-M256 and redownload of the KEP-file solved the problem.

No more noisy pianos. Thanks!
