PadKontrol Light question

I just got a padKontrol, and no matter what program I'm in (and even if a program is closed) whenever I hit one of the pads number 05 - 12 (the middle 8 pads) it triggers two lights: one on the pad I hit and the one below or above it. It doesn't trigger two notes, just two lights. So if I hit pad 09, the light on pad 05 goes off too. It doesn't appear to affect the playability, it's just really annoying. I'm completely new to this thing, and I've found the documentation wasn't really helpful. Can anyone answer this?

I believe there is a way to make the lights on the pads "dance" when you hit them. I guess it"s for the RAVE people that dig that crazy stuff. They can do different patterns. Pg 13 of the manual 'illumination mode". this could be what you are seeing.
