How to control Ableton Live with Kaoss Pad 3
Hi everybody.
I'm trying to use KP3 as a MIDI controller in Ableton Live(like in this famous video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvz8BX2Y5go ).
What is important for me is to understand how to use touchpad to launch clips in Live.
I haven't find any mapping or any tutorial that explain how to configure it.
So I decided to map manually but when I get into MIDI mode in Live my kaosspad send only a midi message and I can't use each small square of the Touchpad.
What I have to do to use it like in the video?
How have I to set the editor?
Please answer to me, or at least write in this post everything that colud be useful to me.
Bye
Sorry for my English....

hi^^,
just select the "ext.ctrl & global" section in your kp3 editor.
then you see a kp3 with 7 arrows on the touchpad, right under this touchpad you can find a dropdown-menue where you've got to choose "pattern 4".
then you click on "pad touch" and choose at "assign type" "continue". after havin done this, you only have to "transmit" your changes and that's it!
hope i could help you.
edit: after your changes are transmitted, you have got to reboot you kp3

Many thanx for answre me....you're the first all over the world that made it!
I enter in ext.ctrl mode but....what do you mean for "arrows"?
Everything that I see is a black touch pad, and a P00.1 that I can change till 128.
How can I choose pattern 4?
Sorry, but maybe it's under my eyes but I don't see it...[/i]

Now I can configure Ableton Live

But now...some questions:
1.From what I see It's not possible to use each square of the touch pad...but only the entire column, right? (understand what I mean?)
2.I see that I can choose from P.001 to P.128...why? In the editor I can configure only Program Memory 1...Is there any correlation between two things...and, if yes, how can I set the other Programs?
MANY MANY THANX....I tried for weeks to understand these things on Italian Forum but nobody was able to help me....so....sorry for many questions...but I'm beginnin only now to really enjoy and I want to understand much possible
If u come in Milan a pizza for you is already paid

congratulations
for me, it tooke quite a while, too, to figure this out...
as far as i know, the leds on the touchpad can only be used as faders.
thanks for your invitation, but as i come from germany, i will not very often get the chance to visit milan (but who knows...)
hope you'll become as happy as me with this controller

and about P.001 to P.128? Is this number indicate program memory?

If could be possible to save multiple ext.ctrl settings, it would be perfect...yeslouiehammer wrote:hm, seems a little mit strange to me, too.
normally it should be possible, to save multiple ext.ctrl settings (up to 127) via program memory. but i can't figure out how, because i can only change the global settings and not the specific ext.ctrl prog memory.
maybe anyone else knows...
