Hello! My first post here, couple of issues, questions

Post by jarleirik »

First of all, great forum! I have a PA1x Pro keyboard, and I am wondering how to get hold of some cheap styles and sounds for it.
When I play I record with a data cable, line-in, but I don't think it is the best way to record.. So I wonder how to record high-quality MP3s! Next question, any advice for best speakers to use for live performance? I need more volume, still using some crappy speakers I got with my computer, but I am ready to invest! Also, how can I unlock the vocal processors built in the keyboard?
NEXT question: Can I create a MIDI-pattern on my computer and transfer it into a STYLE? If you understand :) sorry for bad english and for putting so many questions in one post..
Greetings from NORWAY ;-)

Hi jarleirik
First of all, great forum!
THANKS - and welcome
I have a PA1x Pro keyboard, and I am wondering how to get hold of some cheap styles and sounds for it.
There are some outstanding styles FREE at http://www.korgpa.com/pa_root/en/extra/ ... re.html?en

Also check out our download areas: http://www.korgforums.com/?show=1
You can also load and use any "i-series" styles (Korg i3, i30 etc)
When I play I record with a data cable, line-in, but I don't think it is the best way to record.. So I wonder how to record high-quality MP3s!
You can at least select the "High Quality" setting for MP3 recordings on the PA1XPro (I am assuming that you have the MP3 board installed?)
Or record using "line-out" directly into a recording desk, or PC - then you will have a quality "wav" file which you can later convert to high quality MP3
Next question, any advice for best speakers to use for live performance? I need more volume, still using some crappy speakers I got with my computer, but I am ready to invest!
This is a hard one to answer as we all have different needs - what I recommend is to contact your local retailer(s); tell them you are needing to get a good PA for performing and ask if you can take your PA1XPro to the store to try out some set-ups. My local retailers will do this .....
Also, how can I unlock the vocal processors built in the keyboard?
The vocal processor will work already - the components which are "partially" locked are "voice modeling & pitch correction". The latter has to be "purchased" from Korg - see: http://www.korgpa.com/pa_root/en/store/store.html?en - HOWEVER, you can use ALL these features already to at least establish whether you want to spend money to activate the "voice modeling & pitch correction" features. (All the "activation" does is to remove the "30 second drop out" for these features)
NEXT question: Can I create a MIDI-pattern on my computer and transfer it into a STYLE?
Yes you can but there are some conditions and requirements which will aid in successfully creating the style.
If you understand - sorry for bad english and for putting so many questions in one post..
That is what we are here for (and your English is just fine!! :D )

Hope this helps....

Cheers

Hei JarlEirik.

You can find "Midi to Style" software on the net.
How to do this in RL I have no idea as I never tried or have had the need to try this myself.
May I ask where i Norway you are located?

Sorry to hear about the crash.
If you haven't already tried then I suggest you re-install the operating system(3.01) and musical resources - this might fix your problem.
These are downloadable from the korgpa website.
As for the sound system when you get up and running again - I'm happy with my Yamaha Stagepass300 system for both practicing and venue/monitoring situations. Just be sure you do get a stereo pa system or you will be missing some of the keyboards capabilities.
Good luck with the re-install.
Best,
John

With the 1st install disk in the floppy drive it just might still work - the keyboard doesn't need to boot up first - it boots up from the floppy. But your screen is flashing and maybe thats not a good sign.
