Korg Pa800 Backing Sequence ( quick recording )

Hi

I have a Korg Pa800 and i have a question, hope someone can help me.
My english isnt that good so i hope someone understands me.

When i use backing sequence to record a song (chords), is it possible to stop in the middle of the song ( to listen everything is recorded good ) and then continue recording backing sequence from that point till the end of the song?

Ive tried it couple of times but for example i've recorded chords and accompaniment 9 measures i stop to listen if it is ok. Then i want to continue from 10th measure, i start backing sequence from 10th measure but if i do that then it automaticly deletes the first 9 measures recorded chords.

Can someone help me out? I used to have a korg ix 300 and backing sequence worked just fine on it. I could record chords and stop as many times as i want.

Yes thats the way quick record works...You can use Multitrack Sequencer mode to do what you want.

Hi Lee,

Thanks for your reply. Now i know that thats the way quick recor works. When i used backing sequence on my korg ix300, i could record and stop as many times as i wanted and still continue recording chords from the point i stopped.
I used to use backing sequence to record chords. And then convert the song to multitrack sequence to customize it.

But the only thing is, that if you play a wrong chord at the end of the song, you have to start all over recording?

Hi Amar,

maybe this will work for you.

Record in Quick Record mode.
If you make a mistake with a chord, just keep recording.
When you're finished press stop.
Press Record again.
Choose Step Backing sequence.
Scroll thru with EVENT arrow. All your chord will show up as you scroll thru. Change any wrong ones.
Press Done & Save.
Press record again, choose Multitrack & record any additional tracks or melody tracks.

Read about Step and multi sequencer operation in the manual...there is lots of power there!..
Geat point Rikki...you can step edit on the PA at a very fine detail.

Hi Amar,
you can actually record the backing sequence in step mode, but it's far quicker to record in quick record, then edit in step time.

One thing I forgot to mention, when in quick record mode, set RESOLUTION to lowest setting ( 1/8th note). Then when you record the rest of the tracks , put it back to high, or whatever you normally use.

Setting to 1/8th keeps the chord changes nice & neat for editing.

Sounds like a BUG that needs to be fixed...
in the next release for sure....

Maybe someone connected(Rob, etc) can send an e-mail to Korg PA reporting this problem?

Hi Carlo,
that's a pity. I don't use the pads for what I use it for.
Percussion & drum pads would work, but unfortunately not pads that use chords.

I doubt it's a bug because I don't think pads can be used in step record,
only in quick record.

Be great if they could do something about it.
