m50 and GarageBand: Failed to Load Audio Unit

Post by lokeswari »

When I select the M50 Plug-In Editor as the Instrument Generator in GarageBand, I get the following error:

Core Audio: Failed to load Audio Unit, please contact the manufacturer for an updated version or further assistance. (-10110)

I am using editor version 1.1.0, the latest Korg USB Midi Driver, and GarageBand '08. Has anybody made this work? Are there updates available to fix the problem? According to this thread, the M50 does support Audio Unit Plug-Ins:

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Do you have the M50 connected by USB, with the Korg USB driver installed?

Hi,

Not related to your question.

I assume you are using a Mac with your M50: did you have any problems installing the Korg USB Midi driver on your Mac? I can't. (Install failed message)

Should the USB cable be plugged in on the Mac and the keyboard ON to install the driver? Are there any setups on the M50 prior to the driver install?

I'm lost here.

Thank you.

I think you should install the driver, then plug in the usb cable, then power on the m50 -- see if that works.

After you get it working, you may need to start up (or restart) the m50 after turning on the mac.

Also, make sure any midi cables are unplugged if you are using USB.

Hope this helps.

Problem Solved: m50 Plug-In Editor now loads in GarageBand

Post by lokeswari »

Someone in the Apple Forums pointed me to this piece of freeware:

http://www.bulletsandbones.com/GB/GBFAQ.html#getmidio

Although I don't get any response when selecting the MIDIo MIDI Out in GarageBand, after installing it the m50 Plug-In Editor loads in the instrument generator and the m50 responds. Thanks.

How do you select Midi in / out or whatever on GB? I don't see anything on GB preferences.

Midi Out for Garage Band

Post by lokeswari »

Download and unzip MIDIo. The documentation has instructions and screenshots showing you where to select Midi Out or Plug-Ins.
