Transferring Files from PA800 to Personal Computer

Post by Sabreen »

Hi,

I am having trouble transferring performances I have created on my PA800 to my computer via USB cable or USB flash drive. Some of the tracks of the same song do not transfer at all i.e. drums, percussions and other tracks from original style. I have gone through the manual a couple of times and did not find this problem being addressed. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Sabreen

Hi Sabreen

I am not quite sure what you are doing...
If you are transferring data files then there should be no problems but remember if you just transfer "Performance" files and then later, expect them to work, they may not - performances will require that linked styles and sounds are loaded and in the same locations on the keyboard. To be sure, why not transfer the whole set.

Other than that, there is no reason why part of a performance would fail.

Cheers

Hi,
by Performance, do you mean a song that you have recorded??
If so , you need to save ( term used could be Write, not near my keyboard at the moment) the song in sequencer mode, then transfer as a midifile via usb cable or flash drive.

First make the SAVE process ready on your PA800.

Than make the COPY process ready on your USB (or save directly to the USB).

Make sure by making a SET, you click on all relevant tick boxes !

Thank you all for your reply. Please bear with me, I'm very new at this. Just got my PA800 a few days ago, and never owned an arranger before. I'm also not familiar with some of the lingo, like SET. Does this mean a complete song?

Here is what I doing: I start a new song by going to Sequencer, creating a new song and recording a Style using Backing Sequence mode. I then save it, add more tracks to it using Multitrack Sequencer mode and save it again.

Once I plug in my USB flash drive, pull this song and save it again to USB, some of the tracks are missing from the song when playing it on my computer (especially drums and percussions). Also, the volume of each track is off balance. Some are louder than in the original song saved on my PA800. I am definitely doing something wrong here. My computer has Windows Vista OS. Not sure if this has something to do with it.

I believe I'm doing all the steps that everyone suggested. Am I missing any more steps? :?

Sabreen. It is obvious that you have not read a single word in the manual. Please start with this before you ask too obvious question :)

Macboy,

With all do respect, I do value the advice of senior members because of their experience and willingness to help. However, there is no need for you to write a comment such as this as you don't know exactly what I have or haven't read. If you don't want to help, just simply don't reply.

I have read all the relevant parts of the manual that pertain to the recording problems I am having. Gone over these sections a couple of times. But I could not find anything that helps resolve these issues. That's why I am seeking the advice of others who are experienced.
