D888 - US/UK voltage?

Hi there,

Wondering if anyone can help.

I'm in the UK. I ordered a D888 from New York via ebay and am hoping it will be delivered shortly.

Does anyone know what the situation is in respect of the different voltage?

I heard a rumour that Korg gear would be able to take UK voltage (240) because it can auto switch.

Is this true, and does anyone know what plug/plug input the US version comes with?

I'm ~hoping~ I can simply buy a new cable!

Unfortunately I can't contact Korg support because I don't have a serial number yet!

Hi Ben,
Just wondering how you went with the different voltage as I have exactly the same problem except I'm in Australia. Its 240 volt down here as well.

Afraid I never found out, and I sold the unit in the end!

I guess if you are brave enough to take the case off it you could look at the power supply part and it may say the "true" voltage it will accept..I heard that the sticker voltage on the outside just corresponds to that of the country of expected sale.

If not see you can take the power supply part number and do some research on it on the internet - it probably isnt made by Korg...or else see if that is the same part number as a unit that does work down under...if you can find someone else who has opened theirs up too...

Hi mate,
Yes I know there are a lot of posts re the machine hanging after recording several tracks at once.

I only ever used 3 tracks simulatenous recording with my other two band members. I think I saw the device hanging for about ten second the whole time I used it. The key to avoid this is to avoid over dubbing tracks.

If we wanted to record a fresh jam, I tended to create a fresh new song.

This means the D888 doesnt have to spend time merging the WAV files if you saw recorded 3mins then 2 mins 30 over the top.

I appreciate there are some instances when you might want to do this i.e. fixing a specific part but I dont think this would be a mulit track over dub so I don't feel the device is inadaquate in this regard.

I also heard that if you say multi track record an entire jam of say 45mins it will take ages with the "working" screen when you hit stop. I never tried this but I would agree this would be pretty poor if it does take ages. Again though possibly this wouldnt happen if you recorded the jam from a completely fressh track.

Didnt have any other problems really. The pre amps are dont have that much in the way of gain, but then you are getting 8 pre amps on there.

I sold it to raise some money and because I wasnt really using it and as a tool just to play guitar with it took too long to unpack etc ... i just got a cheaper usb soundcard instead.

If I was looking again I'd check out the new flash card recorder by z00m although it could be the pre amps on this model are even worse.
