According to the manual "Press REST/TIE key to input a rest"
But the "REST/TIE" key is actually the PART MUTE key.
Pressing it while in STEP EDIT doesn't seem to do anything.
The manual is extremely vague in this area.
Can anyone help?
Need help making a tie /rest on EMX

Im in the same boat as you. I know my tribes inside and out, but I still havent figured out how to use the "rest/tie"feature. I just cant get the function to make a noticeable difference in whatever sound that I try to apply it too.
And yes you're right, the manual is very vague on this particular function

yes sir....Ive read the manual inside and out, plenty of times and than some!
As I stated before, the manual is poorly written in instruction concerning this particular function.
Ive since given up on trying anymore. But IMHO I can live without this feature

maybe
it is for when you are inputting using single button presses say if you were making an arppegio to fill a bar (lets say your using C D E F) you set it to step record then press the keys how you want them to be lined up like for example
C D E F C D E F C D E D C F E F (dunno if thatd sound good but WHO CARES!)
but say you wanted to make a few of those notes just blank then that is when you press the rest/tie button
so C D E REST/TIE C D F REST/TIE
if you get my drift?

Tie/Rest
You need to select a synth part, step edit then navagate down to MostDest or StepRec (top & bottom of step edit button/tab) then press record then Rest/Tie will work.
