Yes it is, and pretty handy to take around in your laptop case!!! :oTimo wrote:They would be excellent for mobile/portable usage with a laptop, as well as desktop usage for quick inputting with minimal footprint. I think Korg have got something here.
They'd easily fit into a laptop bag.
The Nano Pad has caught my eye.
However, is the Nano Key touch/velocity responsive?

OK, so I get the nanoKEY keyboard and they recommend I get the Korg USB-MIDI driver from Japan or korg.com. But when I do a search I can't find the driver. Is this the same driver I installed with the M3 software?
I can't find "the Korg Kontrol Editor" either, so I tried to find someone selling the Korg Kontrol49 or microKontrol controllers and find that everyone has discontinued them. What's up with that? They both had *SERIOUSLY* wonderful reviews from like, everybody. How can I get one? Amazon has a Kontrol49 for $350, but where could I get a new one? How could Korg have discontinued the great controllers?

DRIVER FOR KORG NANOs
Try these address:
http://www.korg.com/Support.aspx
Then Type Nano in search and go to Downloads. There you can get the driver for Windows or Mac. Good Luck :!:

I have a black nanoKey since a few month back and the size and weight are perfect for putting it into a laptop case. But the quality of the keys are not good enough. Some of the keys came off after the first days and even though it's possible to put them back (similar to computer keyboard keys) they easily fall off again. I think Akai is heading in the right direction with their new LPK25 small controller keyboard, hopefully Korg will produce a nanoKey mk2 with better keys.

How did it go fedo?fedo wrote:I guess you need a laptop in between. I used to be a hardware only musician til I got reason. I still have my Hardware synths, even a pre MIDI analog monophonic. I am going to test your concern, with my D-5 being controled by a Nano. Let you know how it works!19 wrote:Yeah, I wanted to use the Nano Controls to control the nrpn/cc volumes, etc in my EM-1 & ER-1 mk2. It is the perfect size for them (for both my live electro/techno sets and) in my cramped space studio.Bigs wrote:That nanoKONTROL looks like fun.. too bad it's USB-only, it could also be useful when connected directly to a synth.
Is there not a possibility of us MIDI fogies being able to use a usb-midi box between the nanos and a midi synth to do this, or do we MUST have to have a 'laptop lying between the 2' to do this?
BTW, I am a hardware only musician so please be gentle if my question is non do able!
Solutions/Help most welcome?![]()
I don't think a 'MIDI-USB box thingy' would work. Because KORG use their own drivers - not the class compliant standard driver.
So whatever box it is would have to be programmed specifically to recognize the KORG products and if so, use a different communication protocol for the device.
it would be nice if KORG themselves made one for us
