Word on the streets is that its another sampler, this time with 21 minutes of sample time stock. Thats all I know.
Some have said that its gonna have the word "micro" in its name to compliment the microkorgs. But Im hoping that maybe its an ESX-2!

From the guy who actually saw it (in the link above) it had mini-keys and a gooseneck mic on it like the Micro layout, $600 approximate price when released, and called "Korg MicroSampler"

well....

the roland gear info was released today and greeted with mixed reviews.. they kept the 404 basically the same and added some key features that were missing from the get go.. its a lot the same but it has highpoints too..

Anything with an SD card slot would be nice.

i saw a prototype of the microsampler in a store today. on name on it was "KORG microSAMPLER". it's a plastic grey box (looks like a small sh-101, slightly darker grey than the SH). the keys are microkorg-ish, and above the keyboard is a panel with a number of knobs and rubber buttons with a small screen. there is a "pattern" knob with 1-16 all around it that seems to perhaps trigger a syned gate effect or something. to me it looks like a toyish vintage hardware sampler keyboard but it looks really really fun. reminds me of the old casio sampler keyboard (forgot model name?). there are 1/4" inputs in the back, and an XLR input on top of the panel. i got so excited and was ready to buy it on the spot, but unfortunately the sales guy told me it's still in its testing stage and that unit is not fully functional. i took a photo but i promised the salesperson that because it's still a prototype i cannot put it online.

i hope i haven't revealed too much that i might get killed or something. it looks like an extremely cool live sampling tool.

ok i just saw that roland sp-404 link. totally boring. i think you will be much much more excited about the korg one. it's got no trigger pads, but an actual keyboard, so you can do the classic playing across the keyboard, so you are not limited to using it as a loop trigger or drum sampling unit.

first of all, i'm not a DUDE.

and since there's already a video online, i don't feel so bad. sorry it's a bit fuzzy. i'm personally very interested in it for live performance, with a promising panel like that. i don't care if it has a sequencer or not - there are things called laptops and software like ableton live - as long as there are real-time controls for me to manipulate playback and interesting effects. it looks simple and user-friendly. there are enough mpc-style pad-grid units with sequencers out there. i liked when he demonstrated the "keyboard mode", playing a sample across the keyboard. it allows for quick (though not the cleanest) time-stretching. the only thing is i can't remember if there is were octave transpose buttons on it.
