KORG Oasys basic recording - quick question

Hi, and thanks in advance. I'm trying to assign a mic input to it's own dedicated output to send to a hard disk recording set up. I cannot figure out how to assign things to channels 1-8. Right now, all I can do is use L/R outputs. I have an eight channel snake running from the Oasys outputs to the inputs on a MOTU interface. Also, is there a detailed manual anywhere that will tell me these things? Thanks!

Dan, thanks very much for your reply. Maybe I'm just not technically brained enough, but I really struggle finding the answers to my questions in the manuals and on the help screens. I see you work for Korg. Can you tell me, are there some comprehensive sources I can find to teach me how to really use this wonderful instrument. Can you suggest an Oasys book, or dvd set, or I'm willing to travel to have a multiple day session with an expert for hire on the instrument. If you have any suggestions, I will appreciate them greatly.

Mike Conway has a good DVD tutorial.

I understand that, initially, it can be difficult to get one's head around a complex system. For the answer to your original question, try this: open the PDF version of the Parameter Guide and type "individual outputs" (in quotes, so the two terms are linked together) into the search function of your PDF reader.

If you are not using OASYS FX (reverb, etc.) then go to:

GLOBAL mode and press the AUDIO tab (next to Basic).

Assuming your mic is plugged into INPUT 1 (or 2 - 4) look at the BUS SELECT (IFX/INDIV.) row. Press the arrow and select 1, 2, 3,.....8, whichever output you want to go out to.

That's it!

If you want GLOBAL to save that setting (after power off), then push the upper right dropdown menu and WRITE GLOBAL SETTING.










With an Effect:
If you want to go to an effect, then on that same row select the IFX processor, for example IFX1.

Now, go back to PROGRAM, COMBI or SEQUENCER. (Let's pick Sequencer)

Press the PLAY/REC tab (it should default to this).

Press AUDIO IN/SAMPLING. You can leave the USE GLOBAL SETTING box checked, or you can uncheck it and Assign Input 1 to IFX1, like before.


Press the IFX tab

Press INSERT FX tab. If IFX1 is taken, you can assign the mic to one that isn't being used, such as one in the OFF setting. Let's say it's IFX1.

Press the red OFF tab to ON. Next to that, press the arrow to open up the list of IFX options.

Select the REVERB/ER category and select REVERB BRIGHT ROOM (or whichever you want).


Sing into the mic and you should be able to hear yourself on the OASYS headphones' jack or L/R outputs.


Press the IFX 1- 12 tab. On the left of this page, you can select IFX 1 - 12. Make sure that you are on IFX1.

You should see the Reverb settings. Adjust the WET/DRY mix to where it sounds good for what you want. You can adjust REVERB TIME for longer tails if needed.

Press the INSERT FX tab, again.

To the right of that Reverb effect, find BUS SEL. Press the arrow and select OUTPUT 1, 2, 3....8 for mono out, or select 1/2, 3/4..... for stereo out.

Now, your voice with the Reverb effect is going out of the individual output.
