blank screen during boot up
you guys are my last hope: I owned my triton extreme 88 now for around 2 years. Since around 1 year I got the message that the battery is running low and I have to change it. It never bothered me and I did not replace it.
I turned it on last week and it won't boot. The only thing I can see is a blank screen (sometimes it flickers a bit). Today I got a new battery, replaced it, turned it on and the same thing: blank white screen (sometimes flickering). perhaps this helps too: no other lights, or LED's are lighting up - neither does the tube.
Tried to do [Menu]+[Exit] or [Menu]+[9] during boot up - no change! still the same blank screen during boot up. changed the display intensity (knob on the back) - nothing that could have been hidden because of display set too bright.
I asked my GF if she used it and she told me that the last time, she took the headphones of her shoulder and turned the volume knob to max so that she could still hear herself... crazy! then she played but according to her, nothing was wrong with the triton X.
We recently got a cat that likes to jump on everything that is of minor interest and I'm pretty sure that the kitty found my keyboards already. She could have peed on it, but I checked and nothing smells like cat pee - so therefore I'm trying to exclude this scenario but I'm not 100% sure about that.
I tried to look through previous posts but couldn't get any information for my situation.
Any help is much appreciated!

It's inside, is your TR still under warranty? If it is don't waste any time take it in if they can't figure it out tell them you want a new one.

I don't know of any Extreme that is still under warranty, unless some retailer offered a very very extended warrantybsr2002 wrote:It's inside, is your TR still under warranty? If it is don't waste any time take it in if they can't figure it out tell them you want a new one.

ok: short update - for everybody with the "same problem"
when I press [Enter] + [Locate] during boot, the screen tells me
"Media file error"
I think it is simply looking for a CF card that contains the OS.
I'm I right about this?
If yes: I'm looking for somebody who ones a TEX - I simply need a CF card formated on your TEX so that I can put the newest software update on it.
Is anyone willing to help me out?

update: when I enter an empty CF card before boot up, then turn on the machine while [locate] + [enter] the touchscreen tells me: "no file found"
therefore I'm still looking for someone who can format my 128 MB CF card on a TEX, so that I can paste the new OS on it.
I'm going to be in San Francisco over the weekend - somebody with a TEX there who is willing to help out?

I have one. But as far as I remember I read a post in this forum that said, that your CF has to be formatted on a TEX before. Somebody tried it with a PC-formated CF and it screwed up the OS of the TEX. But when he/she did it with a TEX formated CF everything worked fine.
In the pdf instruction that comes with the download of the OS v1.6 from the Korg website, it also states that the CF needs to be formated on the TEX prior to the update.
Can somebody confirm this?

update - the second: I formatted the CF card on a mac, then copied the OS-files (v1.06) on it (from a PC). CF card into TEX, powered up with [enter] + [locate]. it directly took the new OS, restarted and voila: the machine works again. I had to load/restore the original factory settings to get all programs back.
now comes the bad part
I turned it on a few days later and the operating system was lost again!!! ???
After reinstalling/updating the machine with the CF card, everything seemed to work fine again. But turning the TEX off for a few days will lead to loss of the OS!
Therefore my next question: how is this possible??? Is there a second backup battery that needs to be replaced? (I already replaced the first one)
thanks for ANY help!

Blank screen
I pretty much have the same problem, only my TEX was being used by a friend and he was banging on it (playing reggae) and some how i slipped and fell off the top teir of the stand. He packed it into the case not powering on and when i got to d other show there was nothing...just a blank screen. Tried every thing i could think of. I even opened the keyboard to manually see if anything was broken but it seems fine from my view. I also got the same media error message when i hold enter and locate wit d CF inside. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.
