I don't notice this problem at all with any factory Sounds or Programs on my Pa2x. Maybe you can provide details of exactly which Sound and Program you are using?

Hi korg4me. I'm sure that someone may, in the course of time try to answer any question's if possible. Less than 12 hours may not be enough time for member's to see the post. Patience my friend. Rome wasn't built in a day!

I have a Pa588 which is very similar to the Pa500 and yes it can generate pitch bend and modulation at the same time.

Try this; find a sound that definitely responds to both pitch bend and modulation. Then hold a note down and push the lever to the upper right (not straight up and not all the way to the right, but to the upper right corner in-between pitch bend and modulation). In other words, if the lever was in the middle of a clock dial, push the lever between 1 and 2.

If this does not produce pitch bend and modulation at the same time, then I would suggest re-loading the operating system and if that doesn't help, then there must be something wrong the pitch/mod assembly.

That's interesting - what VSTi are you using and how do you know it is designed for use with the Pa588? I didn't think there were any VSTis to support the Pa series keyboards, so I'd like to know about it.

Have you tried waggling the joystick like was suggested earlier?

I think the joysticks are a particularly weak point in the KORG synths and workstations. I've had numerous problems with mine on my TR61, and the local service engineer I take it to says it is a common problem that they see korg keyboards in for all the time.

I'd recommend you get someone with a bit of experience to check it out, or if its in warranty get in contact with KORG possibly. it is often a connection that comes loose or snagged, either inside the joystick or elsewhere in the assembly.

I would suggest that you use a MIDI monitor program like MIDIOX to determine if the keyboard is or is not transmitting pitch bend and modulation. As long as the MIDI settings are correct in the Pa, my guess is that you will find that these values are being transmitted. If so, then I would take a look at Sonar, or whatever program you are using , to make sure that the program is set to receive these values. I know that Sonar by default does not receive aftetouch (another continuous controller) until the user turns reception of that CC# on. So the problem could be similar.

Best Regards,

Dave
