pa2x tc onboard harmonizer camparing with other harmonizers

Post by rockfeller »

Hi!

Has somebody compared the quality of the onboard harmonizer of the pa2xpro with other professional external units (alla TC helicon voicelive)? Are they superiror? I often use the harmonizer and I want to buy the best product. Any advices?

Thanks in advance

I have 2 PA1X boards and rather than pay for the key for both individually, I bought a VoiceLive2 which has more capabilities and also does an excellent job with my Martin DCPA1 Performance \Series Acoustic Guitar. No question, there is a learning curve and it is another outboard piece but worth it. The choir capabilities will blow you away.

Am I reading this correctly? The vocalizer in the Pa2x requires paying a FEE to utilize the vocalizer?

Let me be perfectly clear. I have 2 of the PA1X Pro keyboards. In these boards the owner is provided with basic capabilites with the voice processor but there are features such as pitch correction and voice modelling which must be unlocked to be fully operational. They do work in demo mode which is not suitable for performances since it cuts out after a small given period of time and then comes back in again. I do not own a PA2X and therefore cannot answer the question of what is included with its TC Helicon unit.

You read correctly, PA1xPro has some additional features to harmonizer for extra fee. Pa2 has Helicon voice processor but no advanced features such as voice modeling or pitch correction, you cannot add anything to Pa2 VH for extra money.

There is no extra fee associated with the TC Helicon 5-voice harmonizer on the Pa2x. It comes as standard, and there is a balanced XLR MIC input with switchable 48v phantom power as standard.

There was a different TC Helicon version available on the Pa1x which required an additional fee to unlock Pitch Correction etc.

Pitch Correction is not available on the TC Helicon harmonizer on the Pa2x.

The TC Helicon Voiceworks dedicated vocal harmonizer unit provides a lot more functionality, more harmony voices and better vocal effects than you can get either on the Pa1x or Pa2x. It's 289 Euros here:

Really? How do you send the chord changes information to it , using an arranger keyboard?

Darn... It seems that the closer I look at all of the arrangers and workstations, the more it seems that the manufacturers are hell bent on giving prospective customers a reason to NOT buy that particular product.... It's as if they want every customer to buy two or more products to be able to do everything they want to really do with a single keyboard. And in most cases, it's simply a matter of programming code being included. The vocalizer isn't really much of an attraction to buy a PA2X if it is only part of the package desired. I guess I'll wait and see what the PA3X has to offer....
