Radias module prop

ummm...i noticed my Radias on the back has one propping lock mechanism whereas ive seen in pictures the Radias having two??

can someone please explain!

mine's like the photo on the left - one prop and one 'guide' arm attached only to the base of the module.

maybe the US market gets two because of their litigiosity.

anyway you just reminded me how much i lurve my radias, so i'm off to play it.

Nope I got mine from the US and it's the same as the one on the left. The Radias has been around since 06, so I imagine this was just a redesign to possibly cut cost. Or maybe it was determined locking both sides was too cumbersome?

That's my best guess.

The braces are different. I don't have one, but it would seem to me that the right-side is better/more stable, no?

I do seem to recall the Radias rack and keyboard being re-engineered (with regards to the mechanism) when it was first released. I guess there may be two versions. An early one, and a latter.

I only have one side that latches (on the right side), like on the left picture. I remember being concerned at first when looking at it for the first time, but once assembled it's still very sturdy.

I'm sure I read on here that it was re-designed after someone trapped their finger in it!

Tell me about it. I feel bad for companies these days. Unless you have EVERYTHING spelled out to the user, you're liable. Someone winning a lawsuit because their coffee was too hot demonstrates common sense is almost a lost commodity.

I can almost hear the debate 20 yrs. down the line in the Vintage Synth discussion forums, which kybd controller is worth more Radias kybd Rev. 1 or Rev. 2

I agree ....

First, the law society dumbs down society so someone actually catches a finger...
Then they impose the threat of lawsuit for anything stupidly possible as a cause of harm....

Its strange however, in my country, cigarettes have mandatory pictures of death and disease and warnings covering 20% of every pack, yet car manufacturers are not required to have pictures of splattered bodies on the hoods of cars...
