I'm new round here but just wondered if anybody can help with a problem that I have...
I'm trying to control my Radias module via MIDI with my M3, I've got both modules connected to the keyboard and have connected my M3 MIDI out to my Radias MIDI in.
I have the MIDI clock on the M3 set to Int. and the MIDI clock on the Radias set to Ext. but when I assign a MIDI channel on the M3 to correspond with a MIDI channel on the radias I can only record one track from the Radias to the M3 sequencer.
When I try to record a 2nd track assigned to a different MIDI channel, nothing seems to work then as soon as I use any button or function on the M3 the Radias resets itself to programme A1 in the pre-sets.
I need to know if I've connected the Radias module correctly and if what I'm trying to do is possible.
The best workflow approach would be to create a custom program for your song in the sequencer.
you won't be able to sequence multiple tracks for the radias for different programs, but you can put a different sound on each of the four radias timbres, and then assign them to different channels.
sequencing is only recording the control data that tells the radias what to do - you aren't actually 'recording' the radias. so if you switch programs on the radias, you will hear the same notes and control changes back from your sequence, but on a different sound.
also whenever the M3 sequencer is reset, started, etc, it will retransmit any program changes (timbre program assignment) as well as the initial pan and volume controller changes (from the mix page). best solution would be to tell the Radias to not respond to program changes when working in SEQ mode. Then you can navigate to your radias program for that particular sequence manually.
if you're using the radias in combi mode you'll probably want the radias to respond to program changes still for that. another alternative in SEQ mode is to use an empty track on the radias' global channel to change to your program for that SEQ.

Yes. Look in the edit pages under the 'Timbre' button - there should be a page called 'MIDI'
as for telling the Radias not to respond to program changes, I suggest you look in global mode, where there are MIDI filter settings.
as I said, an alternative to filtering out the program change messages is to use a dummy track. say your radias global channel is ch16. use a track on the M3 on ch16, to send the correct program change to the radias for your program for that sequence (set the program number on the M3. if you program is in banks I to P you will have to use an EXT2 timbre and set the correct bank change message. (banks A-H are programs 0-127 so aren't really banks as they require no bank change. its just a handy ordering mechanism. banks I-P are effectively bank 2 or programs 128-255).
you can also use that track for triggering the Radias step sequencer and arpeggiator if you want. but the Idea is that your Radias is on a different global channel to any your timbre's individual channels.
