EXB-SMPL Sample\Sound library on KORG triton Le88

Post by Thewatcher »

I recently bought a Korg Triton Le88 with 128mb SM-card, and the EXB-SMPL expansion card with additional 16mb ram, giving me 32mb ram on the synth. I've noticed the SCSI on the expansion, and i have a couple of questions. I want more sounds on the synth, and i don't know how to get it. Should i buy a SCSIdrive to have sounds on it? Can i access sounds or samples from there, creating a new external library? Or should i buy a SCSI cd-rom, and buy samples so i can acces from there? Anyone out here who have tried some of this? I'd really appreciate if someone would help me with this. I really love vintage sounds, like the mellotron, b3 and old progstuff.

I can't see the benefit in buying a SCSI-HDD since you can use Smart Medial on the Le, so the only real other use would be for a SCSI CD-Rom drive and to maybe look at buying an AKAI S1000/S3000 Sample library.

AKAI disks are not PC compactible so the only way to load them (without getting into using PC programs to convert data) would be to use a SCSI CD-ROM connected to your LE.

That siad, AKAI disks are getting hard to find these days are they are a discontinued format.

Sharp.

thanks! I'll try to get a hold of a scsi cd-rom at least. As you say, AKAI is hard piece to find. I downloaded some mellotron sound samples today. They are WAV files, and is a folder containing one wav.-file for each tone for four octaves. i copied this into the smartmediacard, and triton finds the folder in the media-section. How do i go from here, to select all the file at once, and to save and actually use this. I got the memory overflow error when i tried to load it. What did i do wrong? I really could use some assistance in this, as i love the mellotronsound, but can't afford an analog one, or the memotron! How do i load all the files, then save them so i can use it for play?
