Do the microkorg and MS2000A/B presets for the R3 take advantage of the R3 MMT and additional fidelity?
Just wonder if they'll sound any better on the R3 than on the microkorg/MS2000 itself or if they don't take advantage of anything extra and sound the same.
Thanks
Do the Microkorg/MS2000 presets for the R3 take advantage?

They are literally direct conversions as far as I am aware - parameter numbers taken from one synth and mapped to the other.
However, they will not sound the same because the synths themselves are in many ways different.
For example a cutoff of 45 on the MK/MS2000 doesn't necessarily give the exact same cutoff frequency as the MMT engine's cutoff parameter for the same value (45), they may cover different ranges or use a different scale mapping (cubic as opposed to logarithmic, or linear, etc).
Also the implementation of oscillator sync sounds different, so I suppose that is doing something differently.
But it will naturally 'take advantage' of the enhanced fidelity of the MMT engine because it is being created by the MMT and not the MK/MS2000 engine.
Its not like they are samples or anything or that the R3 has a 'MK compatibility mode' - it doesn't. They are just numbers that tell the synthesizer what parameters are set to what. The exact algorithms and way it makes the sound is just different.
Also, with the DWGS/PCM waveform section, I do believe that not necessarily all of the waveforms that are in the MK are available, some are different.
Its up to you whether it sounds better or worse though - it is just different. I tend to find that if you want a bit more of a microKorg sound the drive should be turned up a bit to warm the sound, and set post-filter. A bit of a treble cut on the EQ helps too, but only slight. The download presets don't include these changes because they are just direct translations for the most part. I also noticed that where on the MK drive was an on or off parameter - it is variable on the MMT engine. In the presets drive has been turned on for patches that had drive on, but the depth has been left at zero - this is wrong. After playing around a bit, I found the drive should be set to the halfway mark (63/64) in order to get a sound similar to the MK's distortion.
