Fixing broken keys microKorg
Just few minutes ago one of the microKorg keys fell off broken at it's base. All white keys are, desprite that they appear to be separated, in fact are just one piece of plastic, so if you want to change one key, you have to order whole keyboard. Which, at $40, to me costs quite a lot for an unreliable thing which should be shipped across the half of the world. I think I'll order it anyway to keep it for future, but now I want to fix it manually.
I see two ways how keys may (MAY, I not tried it) be fixed - it's either by
soldering - if done wrong can harm the rest of gear; in the worst case it will just burn the plastic of keys and keyboard will be completely destroyed with no ways for future fixing;
gluing - if done wrong glue may be spilled on circuitry; in the worst case glue will not hold plastic tightly and key will break with every pressing.
So did anyone tried to fix mK's (or any other similar) keyboard and what consequences were?

Same thing happened to me
i just dabbed some super glue on the end and it seems to hold. in the back of my brain i am still expecting it to detach again. do you have a link for anywhere i can get new keys installed? Perhaps even inverted colors like i've seen on other microkorgs......

How long a key lasted so far? Was it broken at the base too?

heres a copy pasta
I got korgs number ( 631-390-6800 )
and they gave me the Keyframe model # ( 420006800 )
and the number to their part supplier (1-800-590-0014 )
so call the part supplier ^^ and give them hte model number, i just called, they have keyframes in stock and he said it would be 40 bucks for them to send it to you, and like 6 dollars shipping.
so 46 bucks to make your microkorg great again, sounds fair.

but now, unfortunately, ANOTHER key broke... this is frustrating.... I can't believe korg would do this to a synth..... I realize it IS a cheaper synth, but damn. it's still not a toy, and should get the materials it needs/deserves to stay intact.

What's happening that's causing the keys to break?
I've dropped the microKORG several times and even dented that top plate. Not a single problem yet. Just curious.

I wish I knew exactly myself....... I'll just be playing (usually repetitive recordings sessions) and they will just fall off beneath my fingers.Griffin Avid wrote:What's happening that's causing the keys to break?

when it happened the first time, I just figured I might have bent on key too far in the uprwards direction sometime during in transport.
but then the second one. *sigh* -_-
