MS2000R freeze problem

Post by sonik303 »

Cheers, MS2k users!

i've stumbled across an interesting problem recently. My MS2kR freezes up, after a MIDI sequencer has been stopped. My setup:

MacBook Pro (OS v10.5.8) running Ableton Live (v6.0.3), audio/midi interface Edirol FA-101, Korg MS2000R (navy version), OS 1.07

setup works fine (synth responds to program changes, plays notes correctly, etc) until i hit STOP on Ableton, upon which MS stops responding to any external midi messages, and any onboard controls except of power switch. After restarting it goes back to normal until next clock STOP.

Anybody have stumbled upon such thing? what's the solution if so?

Maybe Abelton is sending out some kind of message that enables the filters on the MS2000?

When the synth is in that condition, go through the Global Edit settings to see if anything has changed in the MIDI filters.

Yo, Dave!

Worst thing is, i cant do squat when it's frozen, as it doesn't react to any knob/button onboard, except power switch. And when it is reset, all goes back to normal (MIDI filter appears to be in same settings as before).

another interesting detail - in a frozen state, sometimes all the LED's go out, and sometimes they start pulsing randomly in a very dim lights.. spooky.. i guess, i've got a ghost in a machine
