I have the Trinity and the MC505 (same engine as the JX305).
Haven't ever tried the others.
What do you want to know?
The 505/305 sounds a little dated now, and needs serious post-processing to get it up to speed. I use mine purely as sample fodder.
The Trinity is at the other extreme, very far away from the 'groovebox' concept, not being particularly dancey, but is great for general synth sample based stuff. I hear Yamaha workstations (Motif) are better for more acoustic type samples. The CS2X is a more dance sample based synth, but I never got to hear/play it unfortunately. Again, like the 505, it may sound very dated now.
Horses for courses.
Best thing you can do is look up each of the synths on youtube to see how they sound and what they can do.

Take the Trinity over the X2. Much better sound, keybed, and way more features. If you like the sound of the X2 (AI2 engine), maybe look at an 01/Wpro - it has the same great piano sound as in the X2, but better quality samples, a better keybed, and more sequencer memory, bigger screen, waveshaping, and has some GREAT sounds on it. Also, if you want to hear Korg Trinity demos, check out Stephen Kay's Media player - he has all his old demo sequences in there from various keyboards (01/W, 03R/W, and the Trinity). http://www.karma-lab.com/vp/vp_main.html
Specs comparison
X2:
8MB Sample ROM
32 voices of polyphony
76 keys
32,000 note sequencer memory
Floppy Disk Drive
Designed for budget-minded consumers
Has ability to load samples through ROM cards (not easy to find).
2 Master Effects Processors
Trinity:
24MB Sample ROM
32 voices of polyphony
61 keys (also available in 76 key, or 88 weighted keys)
80,000 note sequencer memory
Floppy Disk Drive
Designed for professionals
Has ability to load additional samples in from disk through FlashROM
2 Master Effects Processors and 8 Insert effects processors
Both have a rather good, but not at all perfect piano sound. The Trinity has a touch-sensitive screen (the first ever on a Workstation synth), and a much better UI. The Trinity has a totally different sound than the X2 does, quite a bit brighter, and has velocity switching ability. It also has an astonishing effects section - 8 insert effects, which you can't even find on the newer Korg Workstations. The Trinity has a much more up-to-date sort of sound, the X2 sounds a bit more cartoonish. With the Trinity you'll have a much more professional sound.
Can't really comment on the other two boards, I don't know them too well

The FlashROM for Trinity (the 8MB PBS-TRI expansion option) is also very hard to find. Not many people give them up.Gargamel314 wrote:Specs comparison

Also the CS2X has 16MB of sample ROM, not 8MB.
