There should probably be a third option that allows no without a negative sentiment like "once bitten twice shy".

It would really depend how good it was. 5K for a souped up OASYS would be too much £$£$££ nowadays, but if we are talking of a monstrous "Synth" that does just about everything you wanted in a keyboard, reads VST/Software/15" color TFT/1.5 terrabye HD, 32GIG+ DDR3 ram/i5vCore Quad cpu/250GIG preinstalled Samples, Unlimited Sequencer tracks (MIDI) 64 Audio tracks (stereo) Mixdown/Export .... ...

I don't need any more keyboards. I don't need another DAW. I don't need bunch of buttons and sliders. I want a great sounds.

If it were a module, I'd be more interested.

And it doesn't need to run standard VSTs, I'd be ok if it ran Korg EXI's (as long as they keep on making them). That way, existing OASYS users wouldn't feel burnt.

Korg could port over the digital and legacy collections to an EXI format. Maybe even create a toolkit so OASYS users could design their own EXIs.

so I couldnt nor wouldnt buy any other version of it.

+1 Like why, the one I have now is not even close to being fully explored. Give me a few more years and maybe I'll have a different answer.

as stated above it really depends:

at the moment I wouldn´t spend money ´cos I can´t imagine what components that synth might have. If there is only more CPU / gigs then the answer is no, because O is still sounding great and I can live with that "limitations".

But if there is a new "must have" technology then in a few years ...

I love the Oasys. I really expected much more from the side of other EXis, physical modeling, EXfs, etc as many of you. But I don'd discard any KORG (or other brand) product just for something like that. The current Oasys delivers a lot of good things/sounds/fun. If a new Kord product whatever the name is is much better than the current Oasys for my needs or likes and it worth the many for sure I'll consider.
The problem here is that even with some limitations the current version is so good that it will be difficult to offer much more to justify a change or addition.

My answers in not a totally yes, but a YES, IF KORG DELIVERS A KEYBOARD THAT WORTH THAT MONEY AGAIN.

I voted yes; and I do, like others have a wishlist and issues with the current OASYS; but the bottom line is that I think the current OASYS is spellbinding - I'll never harness its power in my life time (but I'm giving it a lash).

But have no fear, the option will never there for you - the workstation concept is dead. You can already see the big three drifting away from the workstation concept with new electric pianos and the like; so there are hopefully more specific but also more innovative hardware instruments to come.

I've bought the oasys in september 2006.
I won't sell it even korg will present Oasys 2.

I agree. More polyphony, tracks and processing power wouldn't be reason enough. I made an "investment" purchase with my OASYS. I love what it can do and can't justify spending a small fortune, just to get something marginally better.

The Oasys for me is plenty sufficient. If I had the 7000 to spend....I'd get a whole lotta other gear.

I think KORG will have to demonstrate a lot more flexibility in the future in order to stay competitive. OASYS stands for Open Architecture Synthesis Studio, but OPEN for who ? Seems now that it's discontinued it was only ever OPEN for KORG and nobody else. Not even Stephen Kay can update KARMA if he wanted to without KORG.

The OASYS is a dream machine and I'm delighted with it, but the plug was pulled on it early and the limitations of the keyboard where never reached. We didn't even get any EXf expansions when they were part of KORG's advertisement for the OASYS and part of their promotional work.

In my opinion if KORG releases a Mark II I hope to god that they also throw a big bone to existing owners. An upgrade kit for a fee would be perfect.

Somehow Doubt Korg would do that,seeing as it would potentially damage the Amount of New Units Sold of a MK2 design,the stigma the Original machine got in synth circles being dropped after a few years with no further support for such a massive Financial outlay has almost nailed Korgs coffin of a MK2 offering For any potential new Owners,and would suspect many of the sales of such would be from Original owners curious to upgrade to it,so if they offered an upgrade to existing owners ,whos going to buy the MK2 Hardware???

sadly not me,they can market it as Open Architecture all they like I couldn't care less I'd much rather invest the money elsewhere.

I would be insulted if Korg made an upgrade for the Original machine and expected me to pay a Fee for it after telling us they were dropping it and even more so after Building a MK2 Hardware unit

Certainly a Once bitten twice shy scenario for me.

The only way to go with this one(MK2 Oasys) is Software IMO(SOmething along the Lines of the exisiting Oasys PCI card with software apps, with the current Hardware machine being able to stay on par with those upgrades.,I Get the impression a MK2 Hardware Workstation would be a very stupid move even by Korgs standards
