Songbook Editor v 1.3--One for Paolo

Post by modbod »

Hi all,

I recently started to use the above software, downloaded from the Korg website.

Has anybody else noticed that, when entering data for a particular song, the entries for the key allow for major or minor to be entered, but these are mixed up, viz when you enter maj it shows up as min and vice versa.

Apologies, especially to Paolo, if this has already been reported.

Regards and Thanks, Michael

Yes there is a bug in SBEdit v1.3. What is worse is that when you load a Songbook which in the past had the maj / min keys indicated correctly, it swaps them all round. So now "Up Town Girl" which is in D Major is shown as being in D minor.

Best regards,
Rob

Hi,

Thank you for reporting this problem. It will be fixed in the next release (whose release date is not yet scheduled).

In the meantime, please note that what is shown in the Main Screen matches the data in the Pa. The mismatch is when entering data in the Song editing dialog box of the SongBook Editor.

Best regards,
Paolo

Unable to install SBEdit 1.3 on Windows XP Machine

Post by frankeys »

Hi,

I downloaded the latest copy of the zip file SBEdit_v13_xp_vista.zip from the korgpa site and tried to install it on my laptop (WinXP Service Pack 2). I am getting an error during the installation -"The system cannot open the device or file specified" . Can anybody let me know, why is this happening ? Do you need to have your instrument connected to the machine while installing the SBEdit ?

Guidance in this regard would be higly appreciated

Hi Frankeys,

No you don't have to have your Pa keyboard connected. But you do need to unpack the ZIP file and extract all the files to a non-compressed folder before you run the .exe

The file SBEdit_v13_xp_vista.zip runs fine on my Windows XP computer after unpacking all files by dragging and dropping them to a new folder using the standard windows ZIP file manager. This has to be done before running the install. Many people mistakenly open the .ZIP folder in Windows and try installing from there. It doesn't work.

There is no fault on the file at www.korgpa.com, try downloading again.

Hi Rob,

I really appreciate your patience. Thanks for taking time to help me out. I repeated the same steps again.

-Downloaded a fresh copy
-Extracted all the files using Windows Compressed Files Utility into a new folder
-Ran Setup.exe
-Install program kicked off and stopped with same error mentioned above.

I am unable to understand what could've possibly gone wrong.

If anyone has a working copy can you please share it with me ?

Frankeys,

I just this minute went through the whole process again ..

a) I downloaded the compressed .ZIP file from this link (using Mozilla Firefox to manage the download):

http://www.korgpa.com/pa_root/software/ ... _vista.zip

b) I opened the .ZIP folder in Windows XP by double clicking it.

c) I dragged and dropped the folder called "Songbook Editor v1.3" and all contents to the Desktop.

d) I opened the folder "Songbook Editor v1.3"

e) I double clicked the file "Setup.exe" and allowed it to run.

f) It successfully installed "Song Book Editor" as a new application on my Windows XP computer.

If this process is not happening on your Windows XP based PC, then maybe there is a fault in one of these things:

network connection
Internet browser software
disk is full, or a faulty disk drive
you may be using removable disk instead of internal disk
faulty Windows XP installation
ZIp file unpacker in Windows is faulty

If you want to bring your computer to Corfu in Greece then I can maybe diagnose and fix the problem. I can assure you that there is not a problem with the Korg files.

Hi Rob,

I truly admire your patience and willingness to help. Thank you so much. It finally worked for me. I honestly believe that your presence makes a big difference to this Forum.

You know what ? I replicated your steps one by one and this time it worked...WOW! . Instead of downloading and extracting the file to a subfolder, this time I downloaded it to the desktop. Instead of extracting it out of the zip file, this time dragged and dropped the folder onto the desktop. I dont know if these changes should've made a difference, but the fact is they did !

Anyways....its great to have this very useful tool on my PC. I hope this will make it easy to use the songbook feature.

Thank you very much for your help.
