The M50 is a great upgrade over the LE - the 5 insert effects alone make it worthwhile.
you will also experience better piano and more realistic EP and string and other acoustic programs, a more modern high-fidelity sound.

However, it has no aftertouch or sampling - not even a sampling expansion board.

Hi

the M50 its a great keyboard... it sounds capabilities are way beyond of the Triton engine (HI) and its the natural replacement of the Le and TR

1. the sequence,r almost the same system but a lot better.. and with the big screen
2. the sampler its your problem.. it does not have sampling or expansions (no sampling card, no RAM, etc) to do it.
3. Korg does not shine in the acoustic section.. maybe the string sections, but if u like the acoustic on the Le, the M50 its a lot better

The roland are good boards, better acoustics, but I dont like the "roland sound"... IMO its like a plastic toy, especially with all the drawings on the screen (some usefull but toyish for me)... but the sequencer on roland its better
Also if you buy a korg you dont have to learn to use it, becoz the interface its almost the same

you should check the specs and price on internet, if u r thinking on a Fantom.. maybe you should look the M3, not M50.
But more important, try to play in some store all your choices.

Regards
Alvaro.

The M-50 is a fantastic upgrade from the functionality of the TritonLE.
I am currently using both. If you really desire a sampler, then save your $$ and get an M3. Both are great boards.

I think your best bet is to play both boards before deciding--they are great boards but IMO they sound very different from each other. And worth remembering is that if you are used to Korg, the M3 is a lot easier to learn.

Hi

ask the prices to your "not so local" store via phone/mail
listen a lot of audio demos of both keyboards, images, youtube videos, etc

if u see pics/vids of the M3 u will note some similarity in the GUI with the Le/Triton... the pro of this is that you dont have to learn how to use it

I dont like much the Fantom X nor the sound nor interface, but its a great sounding machine and easy to use, but I'm accustomed to the Korg interface and I prefer the Korgish sound, just personal taste

BTW the Fantom X is an "old" workstation oriented to compete with the Triton Extreme (both great keyboards and still a good value)... If you want a workstation on the M3 range, u've to look the Fantom G and Yamaha XS, also the Kurzweil PC3 but its a different kind of machine.

Alvaro.
