Does anyone have an M3 and NOT UPGRADED yet??

Post by spprw »

If so, please let me know. There was a "combi" I was using the pre-programmed pads for a track I was working on, and the key assignments/chords for the pads changed with the upgrade. I want to know which keys were originally assigned to the pads.

I know that there were only two or three different chord setups for the pads on the different instruments, so maybe this could be easily figured out by someone who works for Korg or really knows the M3..

I can imagine that there are many users still on V1,
but those folks are not members of any of the Korg or KARMA forums, and not searching the Korg Homepage for new updates.

In other words: it will be difficult to find someone who has an M3 with V1!

Surely some korg people would know, right? They told me HOW to find out which notes are assigned to the pads, they just didnt tell me specifically the keys assigned for this particular combi.

I have a freind with an M3 running V1 and should be able to get that chord data for you. What was the combi? and you just wanted the chords (notes) that were assigned to the pads correct ?

Yeah, that is exactly what I want. Tell him not to upgrade before tomorrow because I need to check the exact names of the Combis I need this information for.

Thanks a lot

I've had the M3 for a year and JUST turned it on for the first time....horrible, isn't it?

Anyway, I might be able to help you out if you tell me which combi.

With that said, I assume it would be a good idea to upgrade? I've got an M3 purchased last June (2008). What all is included in the upgrade?

I recently updated to version 1.2. If the combi sound is still on that one and you need info let me know.

For anyone wanting to know how they can still update to 1.2 from 1.1:
I had to use the Korg UK webpage because the Korg US webpage took the update off due to the users incorrectly downgrading from 2.0 to 1.2. I asked Korg US about it and they said the 1.2 download on the Korg UK was the same file as they previously had.

I haven't had any issues with the 1.2 update yet. It included about 500+ new sounds that were loaded into User Banks A-D (U-A - U-D). So if you have anything customized saved to those banks move them over to one of the other user banks like U-G before you do the update. There were about 90 new piano sounds and some nice strings (orchestral). So if you are looking for better piano sounds I would recommend updating to 1.2.

Okay, to the people who DID NOT upgrade, do me a favor if you can.

I'm not which of the following three Combis it was, but it is one of the following three:

- Loop 'n' Hits
- Drumz & Hitz
- Jam on da M3 Pads!

What I need is the "chords" assigned to pads 1-8.

Press the Page Select button, then click on P1 - DT/XY/CTRLS

Then check the tabs in the bottom right hand corner for Pads 1-4 and Pads 5-8.

I need to know the notes that are assigned to each pad. It used to be like a chord as if it were another instrument, but it was changed to one note/drum sound per pad after the upgrade.

Thanks for any help you can give me on this.
