I'm considering purchase of an M3 and had fun playing one in a store recently. I noticed that when playing any sound, there's a drum pattern that can be activated, and that it's easy (using the touch screen) to change patterns, kits, tempo, etc. Lots of fun for "jamming" on the spot.
I do NOT intend to use the M3's built-in sequencer, as I use Digital Performer on my Mac, along with other software and hardware synths.
That being said, how easy is it to get a drum pattern from the M3 into a sequence in DP? If I find myself jamming along with a loop and want to include it in a composition, how do I get that loop into DP?
(Please don't simply tell me to use the M3's sequencer, as that's beside the point.)
Thanks for any assistance.

You can record the drum pattern into DP as MIDI or Audio.
There is setting in Global Mode to set the MIDI channel of the drum track and if you want to send it on MIDI out. If you check the MIDI out option, you can capture the drum pattern as MIDI in DP, but note that you will need M3 to playback that drum pattern with the exact sounds.
If you capture the drum pattern as audio, then just record the measures from drum pattern in DP and loop it on an audio track.

To get the MIDI from a drum track or from karma you first have to check the options AND the M3 has to be on Local On mode, which is a bit annoying when using an external sequencer.
Speaking about the drumtrack, it won't stop when you send a Stop Clock message, Karma does but the drum track keeps playing ... weird.
You need to turn it off by hand or send a sysex message.

Actually for easier way thats where you have to start, probably easier thenmwalthius wrote:(Please don't simply tell me to use the M3's sequencer, as that's beside the point.)
other options, just save it as MIDI from Sequencer but i dont think we can
give you a detailed answer to that question since you dont even have the
synth...its kind of an irelevant question like me asking how do i change the
Oil on a Toyota but i dont have one...it will be useless to me whatever they
tell me since i have nowere to go look and see what are they talking about.
When you have it next to you its easier to explain and understand.
And if that is the only thing that will Make or Not Make up your mind to buy
the M3 then i find it funny...sorry, cant resist.

Re: Transferring drum patterns to Digital Performer
It's not irrelevant, nor is it the only factor in my purchasing decision. The drum loops are a nice feature, but won't be much good to me if I can't easily import them into MIDI tracks in DP.BasariStudios wrote:Actually for easier way thats where you have to start, probably easier thenmwalthius wrote:(Please don't simply tell me to use the M3's sequencer, as that's beside the point.)
